The REAL Wealth Map of Europe (They Lied to You)

Video Overview & Insights

GDP maps of European countries tell us a very simple story: some nations are rich, others are poor. Politicians and the media love this map. But it's only part of the truth. GDP measures the money moving through an economy, not the actual wealth you have managed to build and protect. Today, we are ranking all European and transcontinental nations by their True Median Net Worth. And because so many of you asked for it, we will also show the exact position of the United States and Canada. We are taking the person exactly in the middle of society, adding up their cash and property, and subtracting all their private debts. This ranking measures one thing only: who actually owns hard assets, and who is just renting their lifestyle from the banks. And here is where it gets dangerous. Some of the wealthiest nations on this map are buried under mountains of private debt. A hundred thousand dollars debt-free is a fortress. A hundred thousand dollars sitting on a massive mortgage is a house of cards. Same number. Completely different reality. If you want a full video exposing the countries with the highest household Debt-to-Income ratio, type "DEBT" in the comments right now. Welcome to Amazing Europe.

Looks like according your criteria are nations, whose one third of population left their land in search of work and those who owned flats and houses stayed much better off than those who built new houses for their young using mortgages and bank loans…

Funny concepts that are then projected as real values: stores full of plastic, millions of brands selling essentially the same product, the Great Pacific Plastic Garbage Patch... and the Moon, of course.
Happiness? A concept.
What does a person really need?

Interesting compilation, even if the rankings depend highly on how you treat the values of owned housing (tricky issue, without real markets for these assets) and whether pension rights from social security systems are monetarized (this is a long debate among economists, more and more tend to lean towards counting this as wealth, even if it is not held in an individual account).

The bigger question is 'how many excuses can you use'? Almost every ranking gets a new set of 'Ah, but this, and that, and another thing' to try and suggest that somehow none of 'the facts' are real, or that such rankings have an alternate purpose.

An investigation around the excuses, and what figures of merit they would generate, should be on everyone's minds.

Interesting methodology, seems a joke to show UK to be above USA, Germany but statistical manipulations can be used to propagate any lies.

An insight, not an explanation, nor a reality.

One of those 'it would be nice to see' alternative views of the way national economics (and hidden exchange rate factors) are perceived.

Maybe aught to be in euros, the new global currency??

For Germany still the fact is valid, that it absorbed the eastern part in 1989, which was completelly poored by socialist and Dictatur system of GDR. Nearly two trillion dollars had to get invested in the east, and still it has lower income and low homeowner rates, and few capital per head at the start. No other of the richer Europe nations had such a burden. To be fair, west and east still had to be seen different It will grow together, but it will need another 30 years

What is this malarkey? "The REAL map" is yet again the usual BS that has nothing to do with reality. "They Lied to You" and you are continuing to do the same. At 23:11 you are contradicting yourself, ranking all high home and land ownership countries low. Also ranking in USD without taking into account power purchace parity makes this "map" completely useless.

This list is ludicrous: it has no relationship to quality of life, which is much higher in Ireland (#15) than in UK (#6)/ The UK is more crowded and has stressed and failing infrastructure. The roads in the UK, for example, are famous for being potholed. Ireland’s road network is superb, well up to autobahn standard on the motorways. More importantly, our social safety net is far superior, with efficient medical and educational support for all.,
