I am extremely glad Jane and her team made such an insightful tv series, that goes to such depths to challenge such overt stereotypes of masculinity and power that are still prevalent in many societies today and not always true to what 'strength' is. It is often out dated and sickly. There is a place for everyone in this world, society just needs to acknowledge the complexities of our world more. Art is enormously important for creating healthier societies. Well done.

How on earth is this a story about "toxic masculinity," whatever you want that to mean? It's simply a story about a brutal, soulless, sadistic murderer who happens to be gay. But leave it to Hollywood to make more of things than they are.

Excellent movie. I would encourage people to watch till the end, it will be worth it.

The film was excellent, but please read the book- Thomas Savage was unable to sell this in the sixties because it dealt with repressed homosexuality- but it is a compelling, beautifully written novel.

This movie is really like a puzzle. You think you know what is happening or what will happen in the future but in the end we are all be damned. Just how creative and well act this drama is.. maybe its just me, but I didn’t see that coming.

Sorry ... I give this movie 3 "D's" ... dark, dull and depressing. Maybe some people enjoy this. But, no one is a "master" of anything here.

Peter’s role in the narrative and his acting were so superb that I was shocked when I saw the poster of the film, where he’s unjustly absent. What a betrayal of the film itself.

I don't regard Kodi Smit as being particularly effeminate. He's not some swaggering macho type, but not being that way doesn't automatically make someone's demeanor feminine.

I adore Kodi. I’ve been his fan since he was in ParaNorman. He’s such a good guy. So talented.

Watching this movie made me think about writing a script for a movie. I really felt like Bronc Henry molested Phil and his brother. Them sleeping in the same room and bed made me feel like it was something they both experienced. I also felt like the brother didn't want that to define who he was but Phil somehow was in love with Bronco Henry and wanted to keep his memory alive as much as possible, and that is why he was so mad at his brother for wanting to marry and move forward in life.

Peter's majestic strut through the cowboy camp - will be a lasting memory.

I have not seen the film, however if an opportunity comes up I will go and see it. It is a complex film.

he got defensive about Sam Elliot criticism because he knows Sam is right . i'm sure they'll give him best actor oscar , they'll give the movie best film award, bla bla , there's a reason why the oscars are useless now and that no one watches it, because it's not about merit anymore but about virtue signalling . the message was clear after that bland "moonlight " movie won best picture as well . and no one wil tune in to watch that , because everyone ( including those clapping in joy) know it's despotism , that those prizes are just because of the LGBT themes in those movies .

The scene in the movie that really got me is where these two characters Phil and Peter sit together in the hills on their weekend cowboy training session. Phil laughs when Peter says “I think I was too strong.” And Phil laughed and says “Who? You? Yeah right.” But that’s what takes Phil down in the end. Peter is strong/superior both in intelligence and in countenance and Phil ends up dead because he doesn’t see it. Phil sees what he wants to see.

I SO hope that Ben wins the Oscar for his role this year - in my view, it was on one level with Daniel Day-Lewis's performance in There Will Be Blood. I did not care very much about the story - in fact there is not much of a story there except the battle of wills between the two leading males - but I could not stop watching him, even though his character is totally unlikeable; if this is the first performance I had seen by him, I would not have guessed he's English.

OK. For me, it was not the pace of the movie. It was not the subject matter. It was boring, in my opinion. The film disappointed me in other ways, but I'll keep this short. Best thing about this movie is the way it ended. Nice "twist".
