The Ocean Oddities Iceberg Explained

Video Overview & Insights

Welcome everyone to the Ocean Oddities Iceberg, which will cover many mysteries, cryptids, obscurities and more. I hope you all enjoy, and thank you for watching!

1:08:25 - 1:08:45 you repeat this line twice
sounds pretty natural though

Background video:

Anybody who legitimately thinks Megladons are still alive is completely delusional. An apex predator of this size would have an undeniable impact on marine ecosystems, and we would see clear evidence of their attacks on modern whale populations.
“Oh but they live in the deep sea where humans haven’t ventured.”
Again a creature of that size and with the body of a shark would not be able to survive at that depth. The pressure would crush them. Yes some sharks live extremely deep, but not deep enough to be unobserved by humans.

This is an awesome video, was scared at the start, that you were going to include spooky music and use a fake "scary stories" voice that a lot of other iceberg videos use, thanks for not doing that.

“Mute nostril agony” indeed.Your remarks about the Sargasso Sea put me in mind of the Doors song/poem Horse Latitudes about horses being tossed into the sea. Now I understand the title, and why “the first animal jettisoned” was only the first…..I always HATED that song..

On one hand I personally adore the combination of genuine science (black smokers, pelican eel, maelstroms) interspersed with absolutely obvious urban legends borne from exaggerated secondhand stories or active hoaxes (Black Demon shark, ningen) and 'its a mystery by definition as we just do not have the means to see into the past or future' (the Scottish ship being found empty, greenland shark age limit).

On the other I wonder if someone who isn't 35 and hasn't been completely inundated with this kind of stuff as a special interest for 25 years like I have might conflate the fiction and the genuine science here.

I suppose that's all under the umbrella of 'oddities' but i literally remember the Ningen posts creeping over to 4chan and Facebook lmao I was in high school and thought they were neat.

Insanely high effort video in any case. FOUR FUCKING HOURS. Nice work. Also it doesn't seem to have any AI, so you got yourself a subscriber. Much better background sound than cave explorer tragedy videos.

is the background footage from Endless Ocean on the Wii? It looks like a really cool atmosphere for a game. I'll make sure to pick if up sometime if I find it.

Scientists discovered a new species of giant deep sea boney fish in 2023 called the Yokozuna Slickhead that is a pretty close to the description of the Deep Star 4000 fish

The lonely Whale or whatever is actually so sad

For years and years it has been speaking and singing in an endless space filled with so many voices, but none who can ever understand it

Alone with its thoughts, it only sings to itself. It can only sing to itself and the silence of the blue deep void, for no strangers speak it's tongues and no souls sing its songs

Edit.:
I Have a Mouth, but I can't be Heard
I Have a Song, but cannot be Listened to

I Have no Audience, Yet I must Sing
