Unfortunately, the salary cap makes it almost impossible to keep a superstar for their entire career. Eventually a team makes enough bad moves that it becomes impossible to field a championship worthy team every year. In today's NBA, the stars have to truly align to have a situation like the warriors where they had 3 top 100 all-time players on manageable contracts.
