Comfortable

— @aodhmac7

Since they appeared in the top searches, it seems that people - native and non-native speakers - are unsure of their pronunciation. And for a good reason - many of these words have two different pronunciations!

Here are the words people are most curious about: Shein, Nike, Worcestershire, entrepreneur, gif, water, often, doge, route.

Awesome, woman women, wood, full … Thank you so much for your awesome lessons full of tricks .. much easier to write..

Funny. I grew up in Canada and I see most people in North America tend to pronounce "Route" as "rawt". However, when it comes to "Route 66" people always say "root"

Sorry , but I really always thought Worcestershire is 4 syllables and they shortened the pronunciation because most people couldn't pronounce it. But then I see that Worcester Massachusetts is 2 syllables. I hate when people say often as Off-Ten. I was taught in school many years ago to drop the t sound, but thank you so much for explaining that lost pronunciation. Some of those other words do sound acceptable by choice. I always say Jif for GIF, but it is understandable how it is pronounced both ways. Water is another one that gets me. A friend of mine for almost 40 years still makes fun of my East Coast pronunciation of water. Think about it though. The word came over from the British settlers. Where did they first arrive? The Northeast Coast. therefore, it is Water, not wadder. Wadder is a nickname for a duck in the Water. That duck is waddering in the water.

I love your videos!!! I've searched all over Youtube but I haven't found many videos on how to pronounce words ending in -nger. For example: I know we have to (kinda) stop the air when pronouncing words like singer, hanger, ringer etc. But are anger, stronger, and finger in the same category? Thanks again, Hadar. You're amazing! :)
