I watched this show with my dad. 45+ years in the program. He quit drinking when I was around 9. I went to meetings with him. Raised in the program. My grandmother was Marjorie. Had all the sayings. It was a family affair. My dad passed last July. The meetings hit harder than they used to. Never thought about drinking until now. Crazy huh? That alcohol gene runs deep.

Addiction is such a long lonley road filled with ups and downs .recovery relapse recovery relapse recovery it can sometimes take a lifetime. I guess its just one moment at a time and being kind to oneself.

Bonnie's character development throughout this show was just magnificent ❤ I grew up with my mum in A.A she had her 33rd "birthday" yesterday & I couldn't be prouder of her. This show hits on so many levels. ❤

Now that I rewatch this series after ages, I realized that it was such a brilliant show to describe addiction and what could be a potential way of dealing with it.

Sadly, it is not full of sex and BS so nobody has made it a hype it deserves to be.

I edited my comment to double down on what I said. I have to watch it again becase it is worth it.

I’ve been watching this show and I’m slowly realising that I actually am a functional alcoholic.

1:43 Amanda needs to buy the Big Book there at the meeting. Read it. Find where she relates to it.
Get phone numbers of people to call if she feels like picking up...

I understand how Christy & everyone in the room felt. I was also a full blown Alcoholic for many years & used drugs. I also suffer with severe mental illness. I never went to any AA meetings. I have an amazing Therapist & Psychiatrist to get me through the horrific withdrawals from quitting everything. I've been sober & clean for over 30+ years. Sadly, I lost both my husband on April 22nd, 2024 & then 4 months later, I lost my Dad on August 14th, 2024. To be honest, I was a little concerned that I might go back to drinking alcohol to cope with the losses. But, I'm strong enough NOT to go back. When I drank or did drugs, I thought I was "happier", "more confident ". But, that wasn't true. In the end, I'm better off without any of it. I still have to deal with my Mental illness alone. This was a really important episode to share with people with any addiction problems. Especially, alcohol. My family never knew about my Alcohol & drug addictions. I carefully hid my problems behind their backs. My alcohol problem started in high school. This episode made me cry 😢.

Raised in AA and it wasn't gonna work for me so I moved off the grid and far enough away from the store and bars 🍺.. I've been sober for 5 years and I'm simply not an alcoholic anymore. I wish I could drink 🍻🍷 but it's just not me anymore.that was God ❤💯

I was always drunk by 11am and passed out by 11:06am up before my son got home from school and cleaning and making dinner. Poor kid 😔 I'm sober now but he disowned me in 07. .

@kathleensullivan4547

I swear that the writers must be alcoholics themselves or at least spent a lot of time at meetings. Because this is so very accurate 😅

I didn't see this show when it was on the air. I saw a rerun and liked and bought the whole series on Amazon. When I got to this last episode, I was so let down that there were no more new episodes. I'm sober 5 years and can relate to so many things I saw on the show.
