You forgot to say that most of the African slaves were sold to Europeans by Africans on African beaches but I suppose you have covered that in another episode and that the word slave comes from the word Slavic who were white slaves and maybe you could do another episode on why American cities with a large African American population are the cities with biggest murder rate

The problem is obvious. It is obvious in Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, St. Louis. It doesn’t have one fucking thing to do with poverty. Until that single problem is addressed somehow sometime it won’t stop. Call it racism or call it. Fact.

@JamesHood-s9x
@

You Europeans have a very skewed opinion of American gun laws criminals do not go to gun stores or gun shows to buy firearms there are background checks waiting periods and a whole host of other things that make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to actually purchase a firearm granite these laws are not as strict as European gun laws are but they do exist

It’s crazy that some people in places like Chicago and Memphis take pride in the violent image their cities have

@mikeypark2917

Memphis’s crime rate across every major category has dropped by more than 50% over the past year.

There’s no Dolly Statue in Memphis 😳

@Maxdoubt420
@

Memphian here and don’t know about the Dolly Parton statues or the country music. We do mostly blues, rap, and rock here. There certainly is country to find but it’s not huge.

Large black population what else is there to know ?

@BillyBelk
@

Is it just me or have you become distinctly anti American. Just judging by you tone.

@jamesbelding2950
@

Is demographic is 60% black then crime committed is only 60% black right?

What do you mean 85 to 95% of the crimes particularly serious crimes are from the 60%?

Why do the Korean Americans or the Vietnamese Americans or the Japanese Americans have such low involvement in crimes even considering their percentage?

You mean to say all the Asian Americans in the city are not likely involved in crimes like gangs and drug related.

How can we take anything you say as fact when you totally fuck up on such EASILY CHECKED INFORMATION ON Nashville vs Memphis. A bit of snobbery and a bit embarrassing.

@thebrowneesfilm2
@

Badly done on this one. Terrible lack of research on the history of music.

@thebrowneesfilm2
@

It's also sad because when I think of Memphis, the first thing that comes to mind is Elvis' Graceland museum which is a popular tourist attraction.

@JakeKaufman-v2v
@

I don't know who did your research, but you should fire them. You kept conflating the entire States products with Memphis. Rocket 88 and not Elvis Presley what's the beginning of rock and roll in 1951! There's a Dolly Parton statue in Nashville Tennessee and others in her hometown of Pigeon Forge in East Tennessee. Virtually no country artist is from or lives in Memphis. They're only connection to rock and roll is Sun records and Elvis Presley, both of which are widely overshadowed by everyone else. Johnny Cash played in the high school auditoriums of pretty much every city of more than 10,000 people in the southeastern United States, any degree of authority is garbage.

Tennessee left the Confederacy a year into the Civil War when we were captured by the Union. We might have been held as a captive State until 1966, but we were already back in the Union with Congressional representatives and a freaking Vice President! long before then.

Whiskey is in East and Middle Tennessee product, virtually no production in Memphis. Nashville are East Tennessee are the celebrated Music centers - because in case you didn't realize that Elvis left the building a long damn time ago! And Justin Timberlake has lived in the greater Nashville area far longer than he ever lived in Memphis.

Basically what Memphis has got is the international headquarters of FedEx, an empty building that once held Ikea, a basketball team that has considered moving elsewhere three times in the last 30 years, and the Giant Bass pro shop.

Oh and crime. Lots and lots of it. Two of their SWAT vans have been robbed, as had the chief of police's squad vehicle. There's even tons of crime in the richest area of the city, Germantown. And a con artist tried to steal Graceland from the Presley's!

Frankly, nobody should take anything that you say in here seriously. Because you're research is piss poor. There are tons of better videos about why Memphis is failing on the internet in general and in particular in YouTube. Turn this video off and go seek one of those.

I don't understand why country music is popular either Fact Boy

@ashleybrown4754
@

Neglected to mention that a major factor in reducing the crime rates, particularly when they dropped especially quickly in the 4th quarter of 2020, was the deployment and partnership between state and federal law enforcement and the TN National Guard. The largest drops in crime all happened during that period.

Memphis is a dump.that should be gifted to Arkansas. The rest of Tennessee wants nothing to do with it.

0:15. Sure. That's the problem in Memphis. Too many white people.

@gizzyguzzi

Memphis, in the far Southwest of Tennessee, is actually not known for whiskey. That would be Lynchburg, home of Jack Daniel’s, in Southern Middle Tennessee. Dolly’s area is in far Eastern Tennessee in the Smokey Mountains. Memphis is however known for barbecue, although there’s definitely a regional rivalry within the state, and definitely the Blues. It’s also a sh*thole.

@BrendaRakestraw

Being poor is part of the equation. We have a YN problem and no one seems to do anything about it. Also they can afford the healthy food. They receive a LOT of government assistance but choose not to make healthier choices. There needs to be a culture change and then we will see things get better.
