The Illicit Shipping Trade Hiding in Plain Sight

Video Overview & Insights

An armada of vessels operating near Asia’s maritime thoroughfares moves hundreds of millions of barrels of sanctioned oil. Called the “dark fleet,” the ships also risk environmental catastrophe.

Buen informe .Bloomberg. No valió para nada la chanada reciente en el estrecho un año después.Centrense en las empresas de los barcos!

— @MiguelAngel-u9o1j

Just outside the reach of Malaysia’s coast guard and without formal oversight, oil is being transferred from one vessel to another in open waters, risking spills and lives while increasing geopolitical tensions.

For more on Bloomberg.com:

That’s a striking reminder of how geopolitics, energy trade, and environmental risk can all collide at sea, especially when so much activity happens out of sight.

I support this 100%. Those people need to eat too, or should they starve because the USA decided it? Iran for example is one of the world’s largest producers of liquid oil, what right does the USA have to tell them they’re not allowed to sell any of it? As an American, our governments arrogance makes me sick

Lots of conspiracy theories are true. The literal assassination of Lincoln was a definitional conspiracy, being many people working together in secret to accomplish a goal. The Epstein files and child trafficking is a conspiracy fact. Israel trying to control the entire middle east, bribing and manipulating the American government, and committing genocide is also conspiracy fact. OOPS wasn't supposed to say that last one huh? Because that's a conspiracy you are involved in and support.

lol illicit.... does that mean the west is not making any money out of it?

Also on these ships walls it reads: "Please do smoke" in big red letters

@dmor6696

After the west sanctioned these kind of ships(Balkan and mideast),. These venezuelan sanctioned oil is "now" transported by the very same fleet harassing filipino fishermen in south east asia...Chinese paramilitary ships. Seems trump and marcos have the same common enemy😳.. All too common😃☝️

Illicit to who? And sanctioned by what country? Sanctioned means that can't sell it to the country that sanctioned it right? What does that have to do with the rest of the world?

Why should they stop this because of sanctions? ‘Illicit activities’? 😂 western media sure is funny, but I’m glad that the people in the comments see right through the bigotry.

Garbage reporting from a garbage source.

@billyjohn9192
@

It's not illegal. It's the West trying to impose their illegal:"international rules based order", which aren't written down, because they are for whatever is beneficial to the West.

@billyjohn9192
@

How can it be illicit.. isn't it a trade between China and Iran.

@bishoptoothpaste1858
@

Insurance companies have increased their prices so much so that they unintentionally created a problem. The dark fleet problem was born.

@anthonybarcinas5229
@

Iran has crude oil, China want to buy it and ship it to China. What is the problem? Could it be that in 1975 the US assassins murdered the minister who proposed nationalisation of the oil?

Or

Is it because the USA were supporting Sadam Hussain during the Iran Iraq war?

Now its all about the creation of the Greater Israel, whatever that is.

@dandmharrison5364

All that risk just for headlines and extra paper. Do you know what you're up against?

@MrWhittles

So.... basically US can really shut Iranian economy by naval blockade the Gulf, but at least they still sane enough to not raising the whole world oil prices

@jedq456

Yeah, US sanctions don’t apply to literally two nations: China and Iran trading with each other. The imperialist mindset in this film is just so disgusting. Typical US middle-class, doting imperialist lackeys.

So oil is "illicit" because some western governments say so? Call it what it is, American bullying. Let commerce flow. Sanctions have never in history made any country go "Yeah you're right, we give up!"

The problem with this documental is that the ships have a life of at least 25years.
The ship to ship ops are allowed and very safe specially in oil transfer ops.
Also I think that the problem is the restrictions of US, they are not doing Any bad, they are making the market more competitive and not only controlled by US. This is obviusly an american documental. Its not by an neutral pov.
Also the insurance companies are involved.
