I went in closed the door and she said what the hell did you send me!!! And we both began to cry at work! LOL! The true raw emotion of inspiration and love just took over! @viloksagar6201I recently watched an interview she gave about this whole thing. It's crazy that she wasn't even supposed to be the one singing it. She sang it for this rehearsal to get the movie greenlit but she was only supposed to do the vocals until they hired the actual actress who was going to play the part and she only agreed to that because the studio paid her rent. That's why despite being a seasoned musical theater actress she was so distressed at the beginning. She really didn't want to do this or be there. Then she was so damn good that Hugh Jackman wanted her in the movie, he said he believed she was the only one who could really sing it with the proper emotions and she said no because she found it traumatizing. Growing up she was a half British, half Maori kid who was born in Hawaii and she was also full figured. She was bullied horribly as a kid about her looks, her size and her accent until she faked an American accent and even then the bullying was still so awful that she left Hawaii as soon as she could. She knew that to sing this song the way they wanted she would have to rip that wound open and put her trauma on display over and over again and she didn't want to do that. Hugh Jackman finally bribed her with more money and a very expensive bottle of whiskey to get her to agree

This is the most beautiful video ever. The first time I saw it, I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I would belt this song out on my way to work just to have the strength to walk through the door. I raised a litter of puppies a couple years later. My pup is named Killdeers Rest This Is Me with her call name being Lettie. She is an amazing dog! I now sing this song to her on our way to competitions!
