The FROM Season 4 Finale Left Me Disappointed... Here's Why

What did you think of this finale?

— @NoOneAsked-1

The FROM Season 4 finale is finally here, but did it actually deliver the grand climax we were promised? In this honest review of Episode 10, we break down why this highly anticipated finale felt far more like a mid-season cliffhanger than a definitive penultimate conclusion.

While the pacing was excellent and the tension remained high, the narrative left us stranded with a multitude of unresolved subplots and frustratingly small payoffs for storylines we’ve tracked for weeks. From the baffling execution of Fatima’s monster transformation to the underwhelming resolution of digging up the bones, Season 4 raised far more questions than it answered.

I think the lightning and the day turning to night and back was either the place beginning to fall apart because they’re getting close to the end after digging up the bones OR it has something to do with the children’s hope being in the roots of the bottle tree and now that it has been torn down, the place will become less safe and even more nightmarish for them. Or maybe it’s a combination of both since, most of the time, the final chapters in stories bring on the biggest challenges for the characters because they are getting so close to the end.

In this video, we dive deep into:

The Problem with Subplots: Why did we waste precious screen time on the golem and Abby's ring if they went absolutely nowhere?

It’s genuinely feels like some characters are just brought into the show for our main characters to form an attachment to them and then suffer when they are killed off. That’s the only possible reason I could see for Marielle’s death: just to make Kristi suffer. Because it truly felt entirely pointless and unnecessary. That or the writers just felt like they were obligated to kill a character just because it was a season finale and ‘that’s what you do in a season finale’ 🙄

— @gracee5810

Pointless Character Deaths: Analyzing Marielle's tragic but ultimately narrative-hollow exit versus Elgin's justified sacrifice.

The Character Imbalance: Why did major fan-favorites like Donna and Kenny take a backseat to Patty in the finale?

Slown burn? This cannot be any slower then.

The most disappointing for me were Boyd-Ellis scenes or Boyd- Kenny scenes

Lore Revelations & The Lake of Tears Theory: Unpacking Sophia’s talismans, the Boy in White vs. the Man in Yellow, and how the bones might lift the curse in Season 5.

We’ve been on this journey for four years, and with only one season remaining, the stakes have never been higher. Does Season 5 have too much heavy lifting to do, or was this deliberate setup for an incredible grand finale?

I was very disappointed with Marielle’s edad it doesn’t make any sense and if they killed off to get Kristi with Kenny 🤮 they have brother and sister chemistry, even when Marielle wasn’t there I thought Kenny and Kristi intent of relationship was creepy 😂 I hope they bring Marielle back to life some how and connect the pieces with July and the other guy

4 seasons worth of build up is a tall order to explain everything in a single season.

Anything short of every S05 episode being 10s, it'll flop the landing just like Lost, leaving more questions than it provides answers.

The story walking / kitchen ghost theory doesn’t hold only because she did interact with her dad before he died

Because they just want your Money and don't care about Logic, Rules or Answers. Too many confusing Stories which lead to nowhere. It was good for 2 Season. Some Things are just toooo long and too much bla bla. Cut it and make it crisp. 3 and 4 lost me and I don't expect much of the Ending of S5. A bit disappointing since the end of S2. Bad Storytelling or less Sense. The Start was good but that one is going too long. 1 Year waiting ? Nope. Watch it 2027 and skip forward sometimes. Could have been better or improved.

Yeeeeeah but where's the demon peoples children. No one clarified those demonic peoples kids being sacrificed like jades and Tabithas, that was like a speculation in a show. 7 children were sacrificed for immortality, so where's Jades and Tabithas past selves immortality and demonic side?
Unless that was the trigure. Jade and Tabithas' past self made a ritual where if you kill your child in that village, you become an immortal demon. What does that say for Victor's dad if he kills Victor for being an anchor next season? If he does though. And in a way, boyd saved his wife from being immortal too after almost killing her son, too.

i agree with everything you said this did not felt like a finale at all

SW/TIME TRAVEL THEORY:
Only one version of a person or object can physically exist in the same place at the same time.
I think this could be the rule behind how story-walking and time travel work in FROM, and I think Boyd’s wedding ring scene is the clue.
Boyd’s duplicate wedding ring exist from Collony house to the Police station* Only once Boyd picks up his original ring does the duplicate become invisible, as if two identical objects/people can’t fully exist in the same location at the same time.
The same rule could explain the kitchen cupboard scene. I think the cupboards were being slammed by a future, story-walking Julie. However, present day Julie was already in the house/kitchen. Since both versions of Julie occupied the same space, the future Julie couldn’t be seen or heard only the physical,environmental effects of what she was doing.
What’s interesting is that this seems to happen at pivotal moments in the story:
* Jim’s body being discovered at the barn.
* Victor almost being killed by Henry. If the kitchen hadn’t suddenly gone crazy, Ethan wouldn’t have walked in, Henry wouldn’t have been distracted, and Victor may have died.

Writers just making uo random shit. Changing the rules and random events. Acting seems so fake. Everything is a secret and there's no communication.

is the boy in white good though? what stopped him from giving anyone a heads up not to trust Sophia?

I think Marielle may keep playing a role in season 5. I think she will appear in some moment just like Jim appeared after he was killed. After all she was the one who revealed she was hearing the screams of everyone who died here and that even when u die here u stay trapped. Maybe she will also be the key to explore the storyline with the dungeon and Martin. There's no way her death won't play any role in season 5, considering the fact we've seen ghost and some paranormal things happened to Ethan and Julie TWICE!!!

The golem was a metaphor for Fatima. The golem was a monster who protects people which is exactly what Fatima became. But then spending so much time on the golem itself makes me believe it’ll have more of a role in the next season maybe becoming a type of protection for colony house like the sticks from the settlement or a pseudo talisman since the man in yellow took all of them. I also agree about Maris death which is why I don’t think this is the last we will see of her since the dungeon she’s been talking about how the souls of people who die there stay there so maybe someway her soul will be useful later on

I thought I was the only one T.T I made a joke with the dirt thing, and said it'll go nowhere and so said so done. My biggest thing was in the previous season, when the three were trapped - I thought the trio would have had a big impact - band together and work on something. idk man.... my excitement is dead for this show and im just here - because I feel like the ending would be anticlimactic.

Me aswell. Huge fan of this show but I thought this season would atleast explain something. It was a great episode but not a season finale episode. Should’ve been like episode 8 imo.

This season just felt like the writers running out of ideas, just throwing things at the story board.

I feel like this season was half a season stretched to a full season, the season was not complete whatsover. Now season 5 will feel like an overlong epilouge

Things I would like to see in season 5

2.Martin story
3.julie story walking
4.The town monsters and the ancient being they keep bragging but we have not a clue

I couldn’t stand Marielle anyway was glad she was killed. The golem will arrive in Season 5 it won’t be wasted. Be patient!!!! Building tension is part of storytelling

@anthonycox1885

Marielle was a useless character and why did Elgin have dreams about Fromville? I wish the monsters would have eaten Patty 😂

What was the point of Sophia doing the voices to Sara? Also calling Marielle a prophet

@ZpTheHomie

WHY would Fatima become the Kimono woman?? The Kimono woman already exists she wasn't looking for a replacement when she helped Fatima give birth. I never understood this theory. The show creators cast a Japanese actress just to play the kimono woman, they wouldn't go out of their way to do that and then make Fatima this same entity. It makes sense that Fatima turned into a monster, it explains why there are more than just 12 monsters. There are around 30-40 monsters and Jasmine in season 1 told kevin she didn't choose to be that way. It has never been said that you only turn into a monster once you sacrifice your children, that town I'm sure can do whatever it wants. The MIYs blood didn't make her a monster, Sophia told Clara she needed to speed up the process.

I don't think Marielle should have ever been introduced, I think her and the actress that plays Kristi are a couple in real life and I hope that's not the only reason they decided to give her a shot, smh. Why do you think Sophia put the talismans in that cave for Boyd to find?? Bc she stole them and threw them inside the faraway tree?? I doubt that, when Kenny was explaining to her what they were she was genuinely curious, she doesn't want these ppl to have any help. I think they introduced a lot of storylines this season that they will continue in season 5, that's why it seems like things were left without an explanation. I also think some of our main characters were totally ignored. No Kenny or Donna doing anything important in the Finale is wild. But overall although Season 4 was a bit underwhelming I did like episode 10.

I liked the finale but there are just too many unanswered questions so I hope the pacing in season 5 will be good

should have listen to peoples telling me it was lost all over again.... i just hope julie wont story walk to the begining of the sacrifice and stop it from happening in the first place then we are back in the R.V in the first episode and no tree this time ...... it was like a dream..... i dont see it end any other way

fatima turned into a monster cause she sacraficed her child to the town/kimono lady. if you sacrafice your child you turn into a monster. I wonder if the golum thing is what allows her to keep her personality and maybe if it gets destroyed she will lose her personality and become a sadistic monster too.

This season has been such a disappointment. I’m only still watching because I’ve come this far and want to see how it ends, but seriously… it’s dragging. It’s starting to feel like Lost—just weird for the sake of being weird.

Fatima, Henry, Clara, Sofia with those painfully obvious little smiles, Elgin, Ellis… the acting from some of them is honestly terrible.

At this point, I’m only watching for Boyd, Jade, and Tabitha.

I’d love to be watching for Donna and Victor too, but they’re so underused.

It’s just like the first few seasons of Lost: nobody listened to Locke. Here, nobody listens to Victor, even though he’s the one who knows the most.

At this point, I’m expecting we’ll find out they were all chosen to protect the town and stop the Man in Yellow from escaping…

And don’t even get me started on that revolver scene with Henry… what was that?

@jjacqu25
@

i think you missed the point of marielle's character. she's the one who confirmed that the people who die in the town actually get trapped there. everybody else is just guessing, but she found out that all the dead have been screaming in agony or for help since the beginning and her death is the fulfillment of that rule in the town. she is now also a trapped soul

@maggyfrog
@

This is the worst finale. I kinda speculate that they are going to launch a prequel to connect all the breadcrumbs they left in all five season.

@Hudson_07spe
@

fatima is effectively a day-walker i think. it fits the rules of the town. she was forced into a ritual of child sacrifice and so she's become one of the immortal monsters but because it was non-consensual on her part, she gets to retain aspects of herself and not completely become a purely evil monster. i personally think this is the case, but if we take the golem into consideration, it's possible that she actually created her very own counter-ritual that allowed her to become a day-walker and not a full-fledged monster who is just purely evil

@maggyfrog
@

why did you say that girl is jade s and tabitha s? the whole point is that they are the ones that didn t kill their child, right? and also do we know the mosnsters are the parents? there are to many monsters and not so many parents..

@cristietc.2432

Oh wow, I like that. The Bottle Tree leads to the Lake of Tears, thats why it was important. You just got me excited for Season 5, I like you was disappointed.

This is simple LOST incarnation . Look like cool one but never give us answers . If up until season 4 we `re not clear about what the place actually is and how those people get selected into the town beside Tabitah and Jade , we will never get the answer at all . Or some sh@t answer of course !

@morizanova

7/10?? really? for zero answers we got the whole season? I rate this 5/10

I'm unable to recall what was the use of the hidden door under the basement of colony house. What happened to it? Was it considered a part of the Jade's plan during all this or not? If anyone remembers, help me recall.

One of my fav character are donna and kenny and they had great story arc in starting seasons and I'm absolutely disappointed why to side track them? They are lovable and intresting as characters

The whole season include finale to me its a crap and time waste.
Clearly man in yellow suite is always have a fair advantage.
In the show they make us to watch a plot to increase curiosity- but in next episode they completely moved with same crap dialogues from Boyd 😢.
