The ancient Greeks & Romans did a lot during their times, spreading far and wide, which also led them to seeing a lot too. These sights included landscapes, other civilizations, and even exotic animals too, some of which are sadly no longer around today….

6:37 the picture shows a front headlock/guillotine choke, but the actual technique that was used was likely the RNC, rear Naked choke aka: Mata De Leon, the Lion Killer. The strangle from rear mount works the same on a Lion/dog/animal the same as a human.

Aurochs being super aggressive makes sense because the Cape Buffalo is one of the deadliest animals in Africa.

16:40 Tiny Dwarf Elephants In Greece?

I know we only recently started caring about animals, but how did we not learn from the Greeks and Romans? We didn’t want to see these animals for ourselves? I know this is 21st century thinking but fuck … these stories are never ending and depressing. Makes me want to watch “A Sound of Thunder” …

24:37 Arabian Ostriches

Auerochs? This animal's name is spelled "Our-Ox" in German (and probably in English?) which means - more or less - "Wild cattle"

I appreciate the take on the anti-intellectualism that you're speaking on leading up to the ad for grounded news. We truly live in an age where "doing your own research" has replaced trusting experts who worked their whole lives studying science and medicine.

Calling any of these species “extinct” or even different from the ones still alive is a major reach for engagement. Bye 👋🏿

Too much nonsense in this vid to be watchable

@Cannon4545

People don't realise this but those hunts where 150 lions were killed etc , were less like hunting parties and more like army maneuvers.
I have read that Mughals , in india did the same , I mean 12,000 men clearing forests , and charging at the animals , and destroying them.
This was when they were not on a campaign where the enemy was man .
In these " Hunts " , the enemy was animals .
Cannons , fire , field fortifications everything was used.
That's how large empires always went to "hunt" .
It was not hunting , but a military maneuver.

Romans were cruel, tbh very cruel.

You forgot to mention the Atlas bear, the only bear species native to Africa and also the Caucasian bison, which was a prey of Eurasian lions, Caspian tigers, Syrian brown bears and Steppe wolves alike.
