After Proof’s tragic death, Eminem spiraled deeper into substance abuse, leading to multiple relapses and a near-fatal overdose that forced him to confront everything. This film explores how those experiences shaped him, both personally and artistically, culminating in the release of Relapse — an album that reflects the chaos and struggle of that time.

But this isn’t just a story about hitting rock bottom. It’s about what came next.

He felt a sharp lil pain in his chest and got scared 🥺🥺

— @Glober420

From rehab to rebuilding himself, Eminem fought his way back, ultimately emerging stronger and more focused, leading to the creation of Recovery — an album that marked a new chapter of clarity, growth, and survival.

⚠️ Important: This documentary does NOT glorify drug use or addiction in any way. Instead, it aims to shed light on the real consequences, the pain behind the headlines, and the strength it takes to overcome it.

Grandpa Em! You’re the king! Never give yourself anything less! You’ve been through so much and you’ve prevailed! Congratulations on saving your life!👍🏼❤️🤴🏻🫡😊God bless you!🙏🏼🕊️🌟

I'm a couple weeks away from being one year sober, and I can't put words into how much Eminem's story and music helped me get though it. I remember going crazy not being able to sleep after getting through the worst of withdrawal, and just going on long walks blasting going through changes on repeat, and watching videos of him talking about his recovery. In a weird way it made me feel less alone, I had people supporting me but you don't really know what it's like if you haven't been there before. But yeah, great video and if anyone is going through it now reads this your life can and WILL get massively better.

Hydrocodone is insidious. It's not that strong so two at the end of the day will make you feel good. But it DOES make you feel good, so you look forward to it every day. However, with opiates you develop a tolerance, so 2 pills doesn't work anymore eventually, so you take 3 or four. That works for a little while. Then you have to switch to something stronger so you don't mess your kidneys up with acetaminophen.... Percocet maybe. Then Demerol, The Oxycontin, then Morphine, and then so on and so on. Next thing you know, you're a full blown junkie and you need dope just to keep from feeling like shit. Most people never see it coming.

I assume this got suggested to me because I recently watched his ex's recent DUI arrest. It makes a good companion piece to this video to show kids what happens if you keep going.

I had a couple similar experiences, I grew up in a party house, I wanted to get Married, ( to break the cycle ) I met someone and thought he might be that guy, and 10 months later he was killed, after his funeral I laid down I didn’t eat or drink for 3 weeks, when I got up I was dangerously thin, I didn’t eat right, I drank did drugs blacked out, from 2000- 2003 in 2003 welcomed the Lord into my life, I was about 105 pounds? 5’3 and I was hit by a car, I was given Tylenol, and told to leave the hospital that day, 2 months later my boss decided it was my job to be pregnant. I got my eating disorder under control for a couple years, 2010 to 2012 the day I moved back to my mom’s house April 2012 my eating disorder came back fully. Completely isolated in 2016 I got drunk, black out drunk, it was bad 12-13 years sober, I didn’t care. Couple years later I randomly woke up paralyzed and got up and got myself some THC / CBD and started taking that for back pain, I didn’t like it, I had outer body experiences where I was laughing hysterically. The cotton mouth is also gross , still better than the poppy fields forever. Every time I slip the Heavenly Father helps me get back up again

Interesting video. An interesting perspective from anyone who is an addict, alcohol or drugs, is that they don't really see the purpose in life. Most addicts are born because they can't sit with that and they see no way out. Not saying it was easier for Eminem because he had something to live for, but it is something to consider. I have heard many addicts stories. I've lost friends to heroin. Friends who quit, went to rehab, and relapsed. If these drugs were never introduced, there would not be these kinds of situations. Such is life. This is powerful. I hope we can heal our society and help people understand there is a way. If you make that commitment, if you have that deep talk, that deep one - God (a higher power, universe, whatever you want to call it) can and will provide a way for you. You're not lost. There is a world in which you may not currently understand that truly exists outside of any kind of drugs or alcohol. One that may be hard to get to initially, but is waiting for you on the other side. Be well, friends.

Overdosed twice in a 6month period in 2018-19,but before that period I wasted 10 years of my life on prescription pain killers.been clean almost 9 years never looking back all gas no brakes.if your in active addiction these days you’d better stop before you end up killing yourself!!it’s not worth it there is so much beauty in life and everything in it

Its a crazy trap for an addict to gain generational wealth during their lifetime. How in world do u remain clean and sober.

As a recovering alcoholic, this is very inspiring to see even a successful person of his status could end up going through the same thing an average person could be going through and have the same visible noticeable change in their appearance. I’m happy for him and anyone else who is going through this journey and moving forward 🙌🏽

❤❤ it's so astonishing how drugs can ruin your life later on down the track you can be sober for so many years and not need them in love back at all the chaos in The Corrs know the pain but now achieve what you had already planned in your mind so he has become an iconic legend for all of us in this world we see the pain to hurt the people through so proud to support and love iconic legend Eminem congratulations on being sober we can do it we are all in a human❤❤

0:26 “and then you lose your best friend” listen to me, hes 100% true. my best friend/brother accidentally overdosed(fentanyl) and that shit broke me. unfortunately im still high everyday, i smoke weed and do kratom and my vape, but i used to do percs and shrooms. i want to be sober, but im not ready.

i wish i never even picked up weed years ago. but it helps me sleep.

being sober makes me feel worse. the withdrawals is why i wont quit anytime soon.

1:40 He says about taking his first Vicodin. That's exactly how I started I took one Vicodin and my whole world felt amazing. I'm lucky to be alive but I have 8 years of no drugs or alcohol.

@Yurrrrr00

I think he's exaggerating a bit saying he didn't sleep at all for 3 weeks, the world record is 11 days. I went through a pure cold turkey and every 3 days or so I'd get the odd 10 mins here and there. I've been clean since 31st December 2006 (the day Saddam got hung) so he's done really really well to do 18 years, I still enjoy a beer though, I don't think Eminem touches anything at all 🙏🏻

@Boxinghistorian

Eminem went extra hard with the drugs after proof died because ultimately, Eminem had him sacrificed to get to the next level in his career.

Look up how Proof and D12 sold their souls for fame.
So for reals, i dont feel bad for em.
So, i dont feel bad for him.
