This meeting Nikolai realized his knew next to nothing about Denzel but Denzel knew Nikolai’s story. Also him speaking in Russian caught Nikolai off guard. In a later scene he has Denzel’s file and it shows that he was a marine with no achievements literally 1 page. Nikolai said immediately that it was all lies

With this simple story he lets the Russian know that A) He knows EXACTLY who he is. B) He clearly has access to international crime data, indicating that he's probably got the training to go with it C) caps it off using the man's name even though he should have no way to know who the Russian is. epic power move.
