When I was 12 I already noticed U2 was mainly a rather hollow commercial for reverb and delay kitsch pedals, only appreciated by people who never listened to Water Melon in Easter Hay - that shows a tad more poetic way of using reverb and delay, and guitar playing in general.

For those of you that say edge can’t play guitar solos or he sucks, take a fucken hike. He brought a new sound to music. The guy can play multiple instruments at once. He can sing. Hands down, number one in my book. He’s up there with the guitar hero greats.

Enough praise. He's not really a great player. Bill Bailey was right. Get over it. Stylisticly, some of it sounds good and suits the songs well, but there is nothing really inspiring about his playing. It's all effects. U2 is the most overrated band ever. They made a few very good albums. The rest of it is just blah.
