George Russell has now fallen 68 points behind his 19-year-old Mercedes F1 team-mate Kimi Antonelli in the battle for the world championship and he risks falling further adrift if he can't solve a big driving style problem.
That nightmare Monaco weekend exposed just how much Russell is struggling with this year's Mercedes - and even if he can't believe his bad luck, this was also the first time he's properly admitted he's just lacking something compared to Antonelli in certain conditions.
When you're in by far the most dominant car and start saying it's a driving style issue, then you know you're fumbling the bag
00:00 Russell's 2026 woes
02:38 A Piastri-like struggle?
Russell’s biggest issue is he thinks he deserves to be given the driver championship because he has been in F1 even thinking he would be a multi world champion if he would have been in formula 1 5 years earlier.

The whole of formula 1 has gone down the pan, dump all the tech shit go back to cosworth v8s simple aero and a gear stick, currently it's just a moving advertising board driven by children, will have to introduce diaper stops along side the tyre changes soon. and Russel like Hamilton is just another crybaby.

Bad luck will only last for so long in the excuses realm. The greats will get the job done in different regulation cycles. Msc 90s 00s. Senna 80s 90s. Ham 0708 14 15 21. And max 21 22 24 25. Russell thinks hes in that league. He is not! So hes approaching this year with the view hes owed this title. No sir. Recognise where you actually are, then you can work toward where you wana go.

Do you guys remember when Russell was all smiles when Hamilton was complaining about the cars and also noted that his style and the car don't go well together.
It's funny he is the one who is now moaning about his style and the car

russell is cooked
remove from microwave
sounds like a skill issue
@mikeoxmells69doesn't matter who crosses the finish line first. the only title that matters is the constructors.
@vladtepes97Russell - I can’t believe Antonelli isn’t slowing down for me
@Dude-etiquetteI’d honestly love for antonelli to win
@i8-pizzaRussel is a good driver, but not Champion material...
@konzekuenzeBottas did better at Williams. Bottas did better at Mercedes.
@don7480George forced Lewis out of Mercedes only to have Antonelli take the number 1 driver spot from him.
@johnnyroberts3761Great drivers don't struggle with driving style. Senna, Schumi, Alonso all drove around cars issues.
@david.newbaumSomething in my driving style = Kimi is a superior driver.
@ozanbaskan5524I wanted him to win over kimi. I always want the first driver to do it first no matter who it is or what team. But he is truly cooked.
@silesia9527Isn't this the same as Danni Ric???
@roastingmemes7526Funny how he won in Australia & he said everything felt perfect to drive. Now he's stopped winning he's said it suits Kimi & the car doesn't favour him 🤔
@philsblogs8527congrats kimi
@karlisgertmanisGeorge is much taller and heavier than Kimi! The car fits Kimi like a glove!
@PJ-kq6bdBackground music messes with the dialogue...
@ryanwatterson4038People need to remember that Antonelli was utterly panned in F2. He's no genius
@davidgavin7280Bottom line is, he's just not good enough to be world champion!
@Will2731_BarcaPeter Windsor called this out on race 2. A similar explaination for why LH is now a closer match for LeClerc. All you are doing is stealing and rehashing his content.
@davidgavin7280“I love this car. I love this engine.” -George Russell, 2026
@minemineminemine404Kimi is a short corner driver like max and Leclerc… George isn’t
@RobThompson-y9sThe problem with George is that he's always so full of himself that he completely failed to notice that a phenomenon was growing in the other half of the garage. And now he no longer knows what to do with himself
@Cece-eu7bvPIASTRI PROBLEM WAS TEAM ORDERS NOT BEING THE FAVOURED DRIVER AT TEAM AND GEORGE IS LETTING KIMI GET INSIDE HIS HEAD
@LEECOATES547It's a crime this generation of talented drivers, have to drive such awful tyres, with F1 pretending keeping tyres within a temperature window is the correct approach for exciting racing with low grip, heavy, long cars, instead of just making the cars able to follow one another with better mechanical grip, without the tyres getting destroyed by understeer following another car through a corner and more agility from a lower minimum weight.
@Ruylopez778Russell R1: "I love this car I love this engine"
Russell R6: "I can't drive this car"
As much as I'm not a fan of Russell, I will admit that he's also had some really bad luck. Monaco was not his fault, it was 100% team fault for not letting him serve the penalty and tried to be greedy and maintain position.
On the other hand, while Kimi has been very impressive, he's also been very lucky that his rivals are all suffering issues.
But if I'm going to be honest, I dont think Russell is able to surmout 68 points.
Well, if Antonelli is better wilth low grip, and have more sensibility wilth the inputs, he's basically a Better driver than Russell.
@pisomark3:53 'its not working with this car'.
Didn't he said that the car was fantastic?!
Russell is a fine driver, no doubt about it, but Antonelli carries that quiet AURA — the sort that settles on the truly great long before they’re tall enough to see over the steering wheel.
@cristiionescu3581So basically, Antonelli is better...?
@nikhilbohra608He is a long corner driver with spiky inputs, I've heard
@ThePatsevThe problem with russell is that he fundamentally believes that he is entitled to the championship. He's got an ego too big for his little booties, which is probably a reflection of his privileged upbringing. Once he gets over himself, he'll be alright.
@HumbunsWoofshineSo much bullsh*t analysis… just put the two drivers on a scale and see their frame… if you disagree watch Nico Rosberg explaining why he removed the paint from his helmet and stoped doing cycling
@mihail-vladimirtsonev5487"It's the car" , "This isn't my track", "If I had Lewis winning car I would already be a multiple world champion", "I've been here the longest, I deserve this" 😂😂😂
@MathewBT81Al we are seeing is that George has assumed his proper place as the number 2 driver.
@CM9999999999I think it's important to note he never actually mentions Kimi's name after botched races. Seems like his fragile little ego can't deal with the simple fact that Kimi is faster. It's not the car, George, it's you. The sooner he accepts it and deals with it, the quicker he'll get over this. But he won't, will he? :))
@novlekDriving style is an excuse. The reality is he relies on having a better car, is self admitted only great on a certain type of track and more telling he is just a mentally weak, fragile little man child. Watching his teammate absolutely make him look like a fool is absolutely magnificent and deserved.
@bigmig4574Yeah driving style. Kimi is driving in style. Rust bucket is not
@PAHTRIKPROPERI am still pretty sure Russell will win the championship. Antonelli doesn't matter how good is in his first year of championship contention. Russel is mentally and experience wise superior. I'll let the future show the inevitable
@jathiyakhan720Nah... That is not George's problem. The problem is that he is a Grosjean level driver. He is fine. Not great or fantastic.
