Hey, coming to this video late but I've been thinking about Pokemon XD lately and started going through your videos about Shadow Pokemon. It's kinda ironic, in Pokemon Go there are certain circumstances in competitive where trainers will use shadows for their increased attack power. So, in an unfortunate but kinda funny way considering how shadow Pokemon are clearly shown negatively by gamefreak and Nintendo, Cipher and Rocket have sort of succeeded in spreading them through the world. Mostly by trainers stealing them from their own hands, but still lol
I kinda wonder now if Pokemon Champions will feature Shadow Pokemon, since it looks like they're going to include the signature battle mechanics from multiple games ...

Pokémon 4ever was intense. Like I actually thought the good guys were going to lose.
They're in a new time. They're fighting the Pokemon more associated with time than Dialga. And it's even more powerful because it's evil now.
The thing Celebi creates is genuinely scary.
That rocket member could have shot someone and it would have felt less intimidating than what the plot shows.

The ninja frog isn't the only one that changes to become like it's beloved master, it's just that this other doesn't give it a power up, it's Eevee. Eevee has a Pokedex entry that says that some Eevees do change their face to more resemble their master's

Alright, new theory: shadow Pokemon are Pokemon who have undergone an biological change made possible by 1) a fractured relationship with trainers, essentially closing their hearts to living with humans, and 2) a blessing from Giratina. Arceus, as proved in Legends Arceus, intends for humans and Pokemon to live and work together. In the poem with the young man and the sword, Giratina warns a young man who was killing Pokemon that Pokemon would fight back viciously if he continued. I believe that Giratina, in a defiant act of attempted re-creation, blesses Pokemon who close their hearts to people with increased strength and aggression

Can't say I'm very thrilled about everything coming back to Team Rocket. Regardless, I find it pretty funny that XD001 is technically Lovrina's handiwork over any other Cipher member. Nothing says "perfected the art of Pokémon torture" like floor-length pink twintails.

Just finding this video(my apologies) but I'd like to see in Pokémon GO, if you make a Purified Pokémon your buddy and earn it's buddy ribbon, you would have the option to "Battle Bond" evolve it like Ash-Greninja, giving a stat boost bonus like the Shadow Attack bonus, but the boost would also effect Defense and HP, making this light(purified) Pokémon so much more powerful than any other version of the Pokémon. Finally, an incentive to purify our shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO.

I still think its max energy that is part of the culprit for shadow pokemon. And to those who say galar’s scientist say its perfectly safe and harmless, yah galar’s scientist also say arctivitch, dracovitch, arctizolt and dracozolt actually exsisted so i dont trust them as far as i can throw them.

Now THIS is a type of video I’ve been waiting for a lot longer than I care to admit I’ve been waiting for. Also I was waiting for you point out in the most recent mystery dungeon game Super Mystery Dungeon, mega evolution is possible for Pokémon who cannot but still use the Awakening Emera which causes the Pokémon to go into a berserk mode which asks very similar to the shadow phenomenon. Love something as old as this still has ties into current day Pokémon and the lore has been connected in a new way.

Sucks that Cipher isn't canon to the main games. I imagine with their methods they would be a bigger threat than most other teams and could make even more OP shadows past gen 3. Even the fact shadows are basically their own type in that they're effective against everything else would make them a menace even a weak shadow.

the "Light" pokemon in pokemon go is the purified version of a shadow, can't remember if colosseum and XD had purified versions or if they just revert back to normal

I personally think that Battle Bond is a huge missed opportunity from Pokemon. It could become a really great story element and gimmick for the games. Maybe they'll do that in the future, maybe in Pokemon Z or something 😅. I'm still hoping for it's return as well as Mega Evolution.

I just rewatched this video and I had an idea. What if they made an actual Shadow Lugia that, as a regional variant, was dark and actually modeled after yet slightly different than the XD-001 version? I'd love that just to say Shadow Lugia itself is somewhat canon as far as the mainline games are concerned
