I'm 40. I'm starting to burn music to CDs again. Something about it makes the listening experience a bit better for me.

Ok, Spotify is bad yeah yeah, but pirate bay just destroys the arts. Why would you steal from artists you love? You are actively contributing to your favorite artists making LESS music when you steal from them. And don't say you're buying concert tix or merch because if you're buying that then why wouldn't you just buy the music? It's indefensible.
Don't use Spotify or Pirate Bay, just buy the gd music, its not expensive.

Why would you listen to CDs when you can find music here. Why would you pirate when you can watch your favorite artists on social media. I am sorry but this rant didn't make much sense. Why would you even ever use Spotify?

Every indie artist should just leave the Spotify cartel with the big labels playlists and be on Bandcamp. Just buy 2 digital albums twice a year with something you really like. Imagine the smile on the face for a small artist that sell digital music and make more money on 2 albums than being on Spotify for a year haha. Your music is worth more than being so desperate so you have to pay money to upload music on Spotify that mostly no one listen to but your friends and family. ItÂŽs time for a real revolution. We need to start support each others art and bring up the music value again. ItÂŽs not realistic that people can get all music in te world for almost free on Spotify.

We all best go back buying record players , lp records , 8tracks players , 8 tracks , boomboxes , tapes , cd players and cdâs .
@Toby-NLYou know you can disengage those âsurvailenceâ options under settings .
@Toby-NLI admit it started out surprisingly well , and I liked it for a long time . But I canceled my prescription and closed down acount a long time ago as Spotify seems to have issues and it only got more and more issues . I just was not able to enjoy the music and relax like I had before .
I now sport a Walkman hifi , paired it whit a senheiser headphone . I filled itâs sad card whit downloaded music . Wich I now in all joy can listen for free in hifi . A d I am happy whit it . Certainly as I donât always like to use my pho e or tablet as music player . And prefer just a player for music , whit no interruptions of anyting . And put my phone and tablet on silent , and check messages later . Or call people back later .
And yes , I do. Itâs the record shops , I used to spent hours there as a kid , same for anime and manga comic stores .
Piracy is back ? I must have missed something , Was piracy ever gone ?
@Toby-NLIf you have an old PlayStation around you should use it as your cd player, they're actually super functional for that! Dvd or blue Ray players with the lil screen on front are really good too, don't spend money on crazy cd players!
@cozplay1315I'm 22, so I started listening to music well into the spotify era. However, I got into music through CDs. That was because I started listening to music to any real extent when I began driving, and my car only took CDs. So my music taste was basically formed from my Dads CD collection that was packed away in the attic. The artists that I connected to during that time (mostly 80s alternative groups like Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smtihs, REM Etc) are still those that I connect with most. I later got a bluetooth hookup for the car, so for a long time I mostly listened via apple music. I noticed that I valued the music much less and would just skip around tracks more. Now, I buy CDs again and have gotten rid of music streaming services. Through this, I have really gotten into another genre, late 60s early 70s folk rock and singer songwriter music. I feel a deeper connection with my music again.
PS - listen to the song "The Lee Shore" by David Crosby. My favorite song of the last year
it's one of the reasons why I moved on to Soundcloud.
@ahandybag3471This reminds me of a book/audiobook app called ever and. It used to be great and then quality went down no matter what price you paid. They literally emailed me the other day saying " we fixed everything you hated" I looked at it,said doubt it, and deleted it. Fool me once..
@caitlynkimack1463Part of the reason companies aren't jumping on banning AI music is it's already wildly hard to detect. But soon? It literally won't be something you can determine. Unless you're going to ban any and all artists that don't do live shows. Which is problematic in a bunch of ways. It's a futile battle. As with many other aspects of our lives, LMM's and GAI's are here to stay, and shouting into the void about it is just going to inconvenience you in the short term. Chat GPT alone is running near a trillion queries a year. People aren't rejecting these technologies. It's much wiser to find where they are going to fit in your life and start to find your joy in/with/around them. For some, that WILL be avoiding, but that will soon be like trying to avoid gluten. Doable, but very inconvenient. For me? I'm going to go check out more Sienna Rose, because "she" seems fire.
This and many other rallys against big CEO's are blind to the reality that the company they HAPPEN to own that day isn't at fault. It's the individual(s) at the top making those calls. You can stop supporting Spotify. That will in no way impact the billionaire you are angry at. They will simply buy up/get hired on at the next company that is profitable. You all make CD production THE way to listen to music? Guess who will buy/run the companies producing them? The age of voting with your wallet is largely gone, because as you pointed out, these people don't need money. They just want it. We drive their business out of the market, they don't even blink while they get hired at the next multi billion dollar gig. AFTER they get a multimillion dollar payment for being "fired" after the company decides to "make a change." Which we all know means alter as little as possible to regain the publics favor, and then revert at the earliest possible moment.
Glad you pointed out some ways to try to support artists, because "Spotify doesn't pay them enough so let's steal from them" is a wild line of reasoning.
I will just keep listening to my music instantly and for less money than CD's would cost me. <3 Love your content by the way. Lol
Music isnt like video games, where the digitization has made games dissappear and forced people to resort to piracy as a last resort. Physical media is readily available, there are still multiple platforms that exist that allow you to own your music beyond that like itunes, amazon music and even sites like Bandcamp that allow you to put more money in artists pocket and when you buy physical copies, allow you to download the hires formats without needing to physically rip your copies if you dont have the equipment to do so. Streaming isnt forcing you to just use piracy, youre just lazy and unwilling to support the artists who provide you the music you enjoy. Spotify raising their prices isn't forcing you into piracy, because unlike in the video game industry, you can just own the music. Call me whatever insults you want but I don't think anyone can contend with what I'm saying, if you dont care to support artists you like thats one thing, but you cannot pretend youre being forced to pirate music. Especially given how little cd prices have risen comparatively and the fact that most Cds cost less than any of the major companies monthly subscription as is, and you get to actually own it.
@ShakurTheAshierMaybe an unpopular opinion but Apple Music just blows Spotify premium out of the water. To my ears it just sounds so much richer on my home system.
@JJPelszynskiApple finally putting a stop to letting me load any mp3 files on my phone that weren't purchased through itunes :(
@andromedafieldThe only thing I loose in music services are recommendations. But I never paid subscriptions and left them the moment adblocks stopped working.
@mytiliss682Whatâs wrong with ICE? Just donât break into America. It is literally that simple. Defending your national borders is basic. We knew this stuff in the Stone Age.
@BadMotivator66I have never used Spotify, I asked myself why do I want access to all the music in the world when inevitably I won't like most of it and why do I want something else choosing what I listen to. I've had a CD player, record player to name just two ways of listening to music since I was a teenager in the 90's. I buy what I like because purchasing a record or CD is more than just the music, its the artwork, the physical connection, the intention, powering up the system and putting on an LP is a ritual, the whole process adds to the experience. I've never understood why people would want to remove all the friction when its such a big part of what makes listening to an album you love great. I've always been anti subscription in general and slop like Spotify just reinforces why I will never subscribe to anything. I will own what I want, be happy and no tech company will ruin that.
@DjPolo-f2dDan Mangan is the absolute best! Been a fan of his since I stumbled across Nice, Nice, Very Nice when I was in high school and have been rabidly listening ever since. Not only a talented musician but super active in making touring more accessible to independent artists, so he's incredibly worth supporting. Rest of the video is great but hearing ya mention him made me ears perk up so fast!
@AmascutDownloading mp3s + sending the artist money directly is the way to go!
@Flac_the_Wavethe word on the street is that there are websites that let you save every album and playlist from a certain website in one go âșno ads, no payments, no problem!
@kagaminekIâve been using YouTube to listen to music ever since iTunes became a subscription. Itâs awesome- free, has unique songs and remixes you canât find other platforms, and the algorithm is constantly recommending me new music that I like and would have never heard of otherwise. Iâve discovered a ton of awesome artists through it.
I make my own playlists and it also auto-generates playlists with songs I regularly listen to mixed with new songs that are a similar vibe/genre.
Help me! I can't find how to get out of spotify! I'm going mad where is the UNSUBSCRIBE! They keep taking my money!
@vucsmidieoNo point getting cd's get a DAP, the world doesn't need more non-biodegradable, made primarily from poly-carbonate plastic and aluminum
@keithlane4705$0.003 is 0.3 cent
@LBeaudoinCd burning đ„ đ remember being able to give psychical cds of fav songs to friends? đ
@candyclouds5171I recently came up with a project that was born from "I don`t want to depend on screens or internet to listen to music".
We have an NFC reader next to our living room speaker and a beautiful board on the wall filled with "CDs" made from recycled glass jar lids. They are held by magnets and we have space for 150 of them. We can change the name and re-program them anytime, but if one is staying forever we make custom art for it. We were thinking of making a video about it and maybe have the free open source code available to anyone who wants to build something similar.
Loved hearing about new (old) ways of listening to music. Power to the people! đŽââ
For the record, pirating may not help spotify but they're not the ones you're attacking when you do it. I sail on the high seas myself for content where not available, however cd's are very easy accessible. If you're not contributing to the artist, then you're now better than spotify and continuing to contribute to the problem.
@smougyI am a boomer. The reason I still use physical media is two fold. First ... I own it. I am not dependent on the needs or downfall of a corporate digital provider. I bought it physically; I have it to listen to forever. Second ... the sound quality is better ... a lot. I mean Spotify is finally talking to provide high quality files in a new (and expensive) Premium subscription. I am an audio engineer by profession and I know what these recordings are supposed to sound like. What you can download is not that. Not even close. The rest of this stuff you talked about can be said about ANY digital service. They ruin industries, they become monopolistic, they collect and sell data, they also have the problem of cost creep, etc. I am not going to pay for only convenience if ALL of these issues are something I have to live with.
@KluugI've only ever been using the free version of spotify and I just spend a little time each month adding songs to my playlists and ... I have lots of different once with only songs that I choose myself.
Yes, I can only use shuffle ... but ... if you make small playlists, you're basically ensured you'll hear the songs you want within a decent amount of time ... and ... for someone who is a technician and uses spotify as music while working and driving from client to client, I've never found myself wanting for the subscriptions.
At most I'll choose a specific song or artist and just let the algorithm go from there ... and ... add any new song I like to my playlists.
Im sure you have been told this before, but you come off as a real piss off.
@nevahhhAVIRGOFREAKI cancelled Spotify over a year ago when I found out about their CEO... I went with Qobuz and love it so much. No AI crap, you can buy and download songs DRM-free... And they pay artists the most out of any service!
@LukaStembergeri install once spotify , every 3 song there was a add to get spotify subsiption ,, so nop , got a tb of music on my server , pirated , of corse , use plex , to manege and lessen to it , and have a sd card on my phone with music for when i don t have internet ,
@darkphotographerYoutube music is the way for now...as a datacenter hardware engineer PLEASE STICK TO PHYSICAL MEDIA....trust me
@D809GI renewed Spotify by mistake I though it was 2$ and when I saw my bank charged me 13$ for Spotify I noticed i saw wrong and missed the 1 đđ going to cancel next month too expensive
@kikyou759I just met you but I love you too Levi!
@ChaoticAtmosphereIt's not back to pirating. It's back to buying artists vinyl or CDs so the money goes directly to the artists and their record labels instead of third parties like napster or spotify. The whole reason why artists charge so much for concerts now is because the make peanuts off selling their own music on CD, vinyl, or even a read-only USB stick. I've also noticed Spotify pushing stuff I'm not interested in and when my playlist ends, it plays same genre but unknown crap I don't want to listen to. Good riddance spotify. And everybody who reads this? Support your artists!!! Buy their vinyl if your an analog purist or CD or MP3 on USB stick if the artist offers that media. I have a vinyl collection that's growing and I rarely use Spotify anymore.
@ChaoticAtmosphereI buy music from iTunes and pay for Apple Music
@heelbeavans01Spotify is expensive now....
@natesnauticalI used Spotify just couple times, immediately don't liked it. I downloading music for free since 2000's to present days
@VladisRedYou know you could actually use Spotify completely 100% free with no ads if you know you know, although I donât use it because why would it be beneath me?
@BadInfluenceYTi gotta disagree, I love the way spotify is. I pick out a band like snuffed on sight or epiglotis, etc, (slam metal) and they suggest the same kind of music that ive never even heard of and i love it, i love going through their custom playlist and finding new slam metal artist around the world, it takes me months to find a band i like, but with their mechanic they find vocal and riffs i want to fucking hear haha. I love the way spotify is right now.
@broboss9530piracy doesnt help artists so y are u encouraging this
@roblairpeople seems to forget that their phone still exist without Spotify. You don't need a CD player, just download the songs and upload it to you phone locally and listen to it.
@biichanoif you still want streaming features - apple music exists and itunes purchases/imports from CD's do appear here so its kinda convenient when artists getting paid without slop đ(18:23 they literally adding tags for ai and filtering in next update)
