The Dark Ages...How Dark Were They, Really?: Crash Course World History #14
Video Overview & Insights
John Green teaches you about the so-called Dark Ages, which it turns out weren't as uniformly dark as you may have been led to believe. While Europe was indeed having some issues, many other parts of the world were thriving and relatively enlightened. John covers European Feudalism, the cultural blossoming of the Islamic world, and the scientific and artistic advances in China, all during these "Dark Ages." Along the way, John will raise questions about the validity of Europe's status as a continent, reveal the best and worst years of his life, and frankly state that science and religion were once able to coexist.
Finally! A video that validates my period of listening to grunge music. 😂 #DarkAges #NotSoDark

Feudalism in Medieval Europe 1:34
Hey, what about extending the video to 20 minutes, if it means talking less quickly and therefore much more meaningful? Just a thought.

I love how emphasized the fact that "the Dark Ages" may have been "dark" in Europe, but for the rest of the world, there was an incredible amount of progress made with technology, art & trade
China's Golden Age 9:12

Alll videos are great, but these one was amazing. What a great contrast between west orientation and east development. Hope we, at the west, could study more this. 2023 was my best year until now. Worst, Id say 1988 beacuse I can´t remember anything from it.

This is a refreshing little presentation! But it wasn't really about the Dark Ages...
It was about what happened the same time period outside of Europe. The term "Dark Ages" simply refers to European history from the fall of the Western Roman Empire on, so the migration period, viking era and early middle ages.
So the perceived euro-centrism-gotcha presented here is kind of moot and even misleading. It's like saying that the Edo Period is japan-centric. Well duh...

@louielyons9365Life expectations was 30, but I wish more people would include the fact that that's including infant and child mortality. If you made it to adulthood you'd usually last until 60 or 70.
