Honestly Bedard needs to change teams. I know he doesn’t want to let Chicago down but if he doesn’t make a change soon then Chicago is going to let Bedard down. He will be the next McDavid. Sticking with a team with no cup to show for it.

I would not give Bedard a long contract. He seems injury prone. Out till November. Season is already over. They should have gotten Robertson, McTavish, Thomas. Once Chicago does turn the corner and look like a contender is when they will be able to attract free agents again but that will take some time like all rebuilds do.

When was the last time an NHL team won the cup by building a supporting team around a top pick “superstar”? Carolina, no. Florida Panthers, no. St Louis Blues, no. Vegas, no. Colorado, no. Tampa Bay, maybe you could argue that one but Stamkos had an equal or better team mate in Kucherov, with lots of top level depth. Washington Capitals, no. Pittsburgh Penguins, again, maybe but lots of other top level players involved, and Crosby supports them more than the other way around. 4 lines of depth with big stay at home defensemen and a hot goalie win the cup. Not the next superstar, they are the sprinkles, on the icing on the cake.
