A riveting tale of the age old Console Wars. We'll talk about the history of home video game consoles and the companies that developed them. There are many great stories to tell from the annuls of video game history. A video game history documentary. Sega is dead, Nintendo is all mobile games, and soon Xbox will be on every platform. The end is neigh!

Totally skipped over the JVC X-eye and all that era lol. It seemed like everybody was coming out with a CD port for consoles and wanting to be the best " all in one" device. They still do lol.

Playstation 1 was OMG😲 moment biggest upgrade in all of gaming nothing had shock factor like Playstation 1
@RobertRoy-r7jsuper mario kart is 10 times better than any sega genesis game shown in that ad. really pathetic marketing. sega did have some good games, like golden axe or streets of rage but they always went for snake oil advertising, so i never trusted them . and i think that feeling was shared by millions and eventually led to their downfall.
also you are not the cool kid if you look like a sega ad actor. cool kids on my highschool instinctively knew that playing mario kart on saturday night before hitting the disco was cool, and playing sonic was not. despite the nintendo characters being a doll house princess or a mushroomhead
My favorite game for the oddsey² is: Type and Tell. Basic but wonderful.
@69680@1:13:27 Thats false. SNES was notoriously bad with controls, especially with fighting games. Check the old magazine "Game Pro" ratings and they will often have the Genesis with better control response than the SNES. I can confirm the Genesis had better controls between the two.
@KingJin726gun Sonic LOL
@ibdamrwigglesComment for the Algorithm
@DaoistYeashikAli"And it's really cool"
@Denverdude7Snes sf2 was awful when trying to do super moves with shoulder buttons. Genesis 6 button pad was a better option.
Blast processing technicality did exist.
Genesis had higher resolution than snes. It just had less colors, which made games look dark and bland compared to 1st party nintendo games.
Snes had a slow processor and cartridges used slow memory. This made nintendo games feel slow and unresponsive.
I just looked up the technical specs of the Atari Jaguar. It's GPU has approx 0.01 GFLOPS. To put that into perspective the PS5 has 10 TFLOPS
Yeah insane
absolutely brilliant vid!!!!
@stephenh9483I'm watching it yet again. This doc is fantastic.
@skywalkerranchGreat documentary. This is ONLY my opinion, but I honestly think the Colecovision, the Atari 5200, and Vectrex should be in the 3rd generation of gaming systems. The Sega Master System and NES were part of the 3rd generation and the architecture of the Sega MS was based a lot on the Colecovision and even the games of the CV are very comparable to the NES and Master System games. The Famicom/NES came out in Japan around the same time as the Colecovision came out in the USA. I think the crash of 83' in America distorts the 2nd and 3rd generation.
@ToddHartung-pp2hpWell done on this one! 👏
@snobbybumblebeeThe Nintendo Wii is the goat of the consoles. Truly a one of a kind. I will never sell it!
@KnowledgeIsGood123i am team sony
@PerkyBlinkersI want to get a pro 200 again, I had a later knock off one that had red leds for night time gaming action baby!
Its what made me love tetris, and breakout and snake and space invader style games .
I would love to have a retro style new 200 In one handheld like the Pro 200, I already have a bunch of better handhelds, im currently playing God of War 2 on a retroid Pocket.
I want that simple cheap old-school led screen with 999 games
Like with a version of mattel football
I’m a huge Ninty fan, but I wish you would’ve covered more ps1 games like Resident evil, Symphony of the night, twisted metal and metal gear solid
@benjaminknotts745Watching this at work because I need to finish it!!!
@stuwelford87You gotta think .. people were just getting used to color televisions 20 years before the first games that came out where you could control objects on the screen. At that time, it was a luxury, and the only games that existed.
@benjaminknotts745I really like the video but need to pick you up on a few things. Complete video game history should of included the Amiga cdtv and the jaguar controller was actually pretty good and comfortable
@ThePeterCorneAny one company could end the console wars EASILY go back to cartridges own the game do live updates that save on the console ...own the game im pret darn sure that people are tired of renting games for 90$ and if the company feels like it they can cancel it and send out 0 refunds .... bring back owning games and they will win 100%
@kree197238Video game crash? You mean the North American video game crash, the rest of the world was fine
@ThePeterCorne"Port-mon-tay-oo" Close... but no cigar
@bloodorange6713Ironically, I went from Nintendo to Sega Genesis 🤷🏿♂️ I still don’t like Super NES
@paigeofstylezThanks for this video
@samporphyrogennitos1:23:04 no, he didnt pull down his pants to fart at you. he just farted at you so hard his pants exploded. big difference.
@Kptn_kabaakalZayres was selling Atari 2600/5200, coleco vision, intellitelevision for $5 each in 1984, 1985. Thats how I got a big collection at the time.
@deactivatedredboxI liked the monent when bi adds were played....
@czcommanderpes9167What is the song playing in the background during the Atari 7800 section? Starting at around the 55 minute mark?
@IgnatiusYAlso wait, the N64 IS stronger than the PS1, it's just not utelized

Now all you have to do is continue to make videos this good, non-stop, forever! Should be simple right?
@deantothFunny, we talk about the console wars like our Grandparents talked about world war 2. Or like obi won kenobi talking about the clone wars of long ago. 😂
@robertwilson8604I owned the Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in addition to my PC.
Of all of them, I never had a reason to play my PS5. The games I bought it for dropped on PC by the time I got my PS5.
Xbox Series X was a joy to play on. Of course as a Sony fanboy, you didn't bother to mention the multi suspend feature for X that makes it easy to rapidly switch between titles mid play as the mood strikes you.
I sold it and my PS5 with the latter being unused. Back to PC and Nintendo for me and I'm not looking back. When you have a gaming PC, the current Nintendo is the only console worth bothering with.
And your fanboy was showing when you referred to the Switch as "pretending" to be a console. It is a console and more

@grayjoestah1728Oh, I owned it. No lies detected, BPJ. Roger Clemens MVP Baseball has this overwhelming feeling that this was supposed to be “8 Men Out”, but LJN just couldn’t lock down the license of the film. All of the actual baseball strategy felt like it was out of the 1920’s.
The Oakland team is SUPER overpowered. Every pitcher outside of Clemens and Greg Maddux is mediocre at best. I played the pennant race as Seattle, started 14 games back from first, and ended the season 10 games ahead of the second place team. I only lost about 8 games during the season and I’m pretty sure 7 of those were against Oakland.
Thankfully I also played the Red Sox in the playoffs, got blown out each of the first 3 games. Clemens almost threw a perfect game in Game 2, but he walked the last 2 hitters because I decided I was just not going to swing. Don’t worry, the 3rd guy hit into a near impossible double play.
I won the last 4 games in a row in low scoring affairs by 1-2 runs. It was like Boston just took their foot off the gas, and they were back to being the pushover they were in the regular season.
Just to go to “The Championship Series” to face Atlanta. It just got worse from there. In the first game, I had 24 hits and still lost by 2 runs. I lost Game 4 —20-something to ZERO. To say this game had “rubber band” difficulty would be under selling it.
Love the last piece of music you used in this video - Maiden Astrea from Demon’s Souls ❤
@kanearcher4687came for a brief glance; next i know, i watched the whole thing without realizing it! great video! and obviously a lot of effort was put into this video and its much appreciated and i loved the inclusion of the old ads!
@coreyvassel9834Xbox js quit the match to try to take over the non existent home gaming pc market only to get one upped by valve.. AGAIN..
@TheCrankcochonesMy first console was this SNES, but the first time I’ve played in NES was literally magical. My sister’s best friend brought me over to her house moved downstairs into her basement whipped out the controller for the NES, and that’s sick golden cartridge of Zelda. It was amazing!
