Family can care for them at home if they don't like the care. Stop suing because you don't want to care for them. You'll find how hard it is!!!!

That's the reason why those elderly people's family members can't just drop off at a nursing home and don't go back and check up on them often 😢😢

Supportive care worker here. All these comments posted by family members expressing frustration and burnout over caring for their family members are true, and I feel for you all. Meanwhile, professional caregivers more often than not are also unaffordable ($25/hr on average), and we are paid low wages and only have “flexible scheduling” as our lone employee benefit. That’s why so many of us end up quitting for better pay and actual benefits—at WalMart. Either way, something has to be done.

I caregive my elderly and disabled parents. It’s a 24/7 job. They are both fall risks. I have 5 older brothers and they pay me a bit so I can do the caregiving and not have to work. I’m also looking into the Medicaid caregiver program. It’s hard and exhausting, especially if you have your own life problems. I’m disabled too but I have to try to make it work.

Medicaid nursing homes aren't very good. Semi-private room. You get what you can or can't pay for.

As people are living longer more time will be spent in a nursing home. My mother (100) and mother in law (97) both spent 7 years in a nursing home. My mother in law had long term care insurance or we would have had to sell part of family farm.

Go study Chile's health-care system for all citizens over 70 [we are both 80]. I took my wife there, and she may out live me with my past heart problems; oh by the way has cleared out three heart veins and added an advanced heart pacer -- my total services cost was $15,000USD. Yet my USA home neighbor had a simpler hospital experience costing 350,000USD. Hello!

A med pass is supposed to take one hour before and one hour after the time due and sometimes it takes seven or eight hours to do one med pass all nursing homes suck they just suck some worse than others. And those who have point click care or matrix computer medication administration records on the computer your three or four hours of mindless clicking and they want you to lie to say things are done and that’s four hours not at the bedside actually doing the things that they want you to sign off.

As a RN a lot of us nurses have been saying. This for years we need staff ...yes there some not so great nurses in nursing homes but majority of us do care and we want to give patients good great care....but management puts us in a position where we're caring for more patients per nurse than we can give...I work in the hospital setting but we're one person trying to do the best we can ...but when we speak up with management about staffing we're told to adapt ...or gaslit or told to tell patients were safely staffed even though we aren't. It pisses me off.... because then patient and their family blame us for not being there or answering call bells. Yet how can we be there or not give meds late when in a nurse in a nursing home has 30-60 patients they're caring for....it's impossible.......we need help and when hospital says there's no money in the budget and yet their CEO and CNO are paid millions...you can't tell me there is t money to hire more staff. .

Most of these facilities are short staffed, because there is call ins almost everyday. Staff worn-out, they can't handle the stress and lifting, turning patients is a hard job. Unfortunate some of staff doesn't care about patients (money is their goal). And other's will go beyond their duty. I wish people who apply for this type of work would have more heart and soul for the patients. Not just sitting on their phones....😢

I was a caregiver for 5 years. It was mentally and physically exhausting. I loved my clients and helping them but the pay was $10 an hr and I struggled to pay bills. Had to leave it. I was scheduled to work 24 hrs straight sometimes when my co-workers called off. It’s a shame the pay is so low. Criminal

i like how no one thought of this being a problem until now, how are ppl supposed to care for boomers when they're the biggest population?

@Aoki84

Medicaid and Medicare need a big back-up. According to statistics from January to June, I received a paper that the insurance company paid $6,000 worth of money. How can I take $6,000 worth of money when all drugs are fake and there is not a single drug made by a famous pharmaceutical company? It is ridiculous that I took $6,000 worth of money. Before I was 65 years old, I never bought fake drugs in the market and supermarkets. All prescription drugs are fake, so I don't have any medicine to listen to. Can I do this to old people?

@verizon8134
@

I am a Medicare holder. I saw that the insurance company took almost 6,000 dollars worth of paper while giving only unnamed drugs. It is ridiculous that the insurance company gave 6,000 dollars worth of drugs from January to June while giving all the drugs fake. All the drugs prescribed without names have no fake drug effect. A strong investigation should be conducted. Other than that, we, old people, have to take these fake drugs.
