The Secret Industries Making Billions Off Poor Americans

There exists a shadowy industry filled with companies you’ve never heard of. Their specialty? Getting rich off of America’s poor and impoverished people. We talked to Anne Kim, who literally wrote the book on it, to understand more.

In my point all the citizens off all the countries should have the free facilities and tax free of
House
Education
Healthcare
Groceries
Clothing
Like basic necessities of human life.

About:

I submit, whatever the form of entity providing service, whether non profit/non govt organization, for profit corporation or govt agency, its all about the money, how much they could take money away from you and me

Non profits and govt agencies, no profit incentives but look at their salaries?

I also work for the "welfare" industry and the wastage is just unbievable

Take a look at your ref. Ours is 20 yo already because we take care of it becauss its ours

Compare that to sec 20 dwellers. Refs for them is nothing coz they know it will be replaced.

Thats just one example.

You care about the money if you own it

Thats just a fact

I just knew their were greedy people that cheat the system from the needy...TRULY DISPICABLE as TBH most do not even mind if they make a decent profit but their margins of GREED is truly staggering & asinine!!!

To try to solve a problem you need to understand why it exists, the sistem is the one that pushes people and corporations to do those things, a society that values money over ethics is destined to live in injustice, we as humans need to change the definition of SUCCES, & happines away from MONEY.

Just catching up on this episode.

I wonder how many well paying jobs are created by these middle-men brokers for these services. These are middle income jobs that generate tax income and stimulate the economy and retail revenue through consumerism.

Oversight of the for profit middlemen. Annual reviews of the procedures performed by government AND independent agencies. They must provide documentation of what they do, how they do, and numbers to show efficiency or deficit in those procedures.

Hi from Ireland johnny. I just want to say I really enjoy your content. I'd actually love to have a chance to converse with you sometime! We can all have dreams, ha!! If you would like a comprehensive lesson on the Irish welfare system. The one that has immigrants from all over the world heading here. I could give you an honest in depth view of the system and how it works. And any other questions you may have about here. Could be great content 😉

Sonny I'm a product of the 60'6 and 70's and could add another 12 services not including the ones you've shown don't work this video of yours before Reagan, then Clinton came up with the plan to totally privatize everything. Under Reagan the United States began the decline and final inability of reaching the American dream beginning with trickle down economics that failed miserably and Clinton beginning with NAFTA and his signature bringing China into the WTO organization under corporate lobbying ending our status as the greatest manufacturing nation in the world with actual pensions instead of 401's and stripping all our manufacturing with corporate greed outsourcing basically our entire manufacturing base over to communist china due to low labor wages. Also the US Postal service can never be privatized. Here's a list of 12
These are results for 12 American Services such as utilities water, electric and Sewer that should never have been privatized to for profit companies and need regulations due to privately company owned greed
Show original results

Privatizing essential public utilities allows profit-driven companies to prioritize shareholder returns over human needs. To combat corporate greed, the 12 critical American services below—from water to emergency care—should never be privatized. They operate as natural monopolies requiring strict government regulation.
The 12 Services That Should Never Be Privatized
1. Drinking Water Delivery

The Risk: Clean water is a human right, not a commodity. Private water companies have charged households significantly more than local governments for the exact same drinking water.
The Need: Strict rate caps and public ownership are needed to prevent companies from cutting costs on filters and pipes.

2. Wastewater and Sewer Management

The Risk: When sewer plants are sold to for-profit companies, communities permanently lose local control over rate hikes and maintenance. For instance, recent sewer privatization battles in towns like Gloucester Township, New Jersey, highlight how sales lead to sudden rate spikes and diminished transparency.
The Need: Local municipalities must regulate and manage these systems to prevent spills and protect the environment from pollution.

3. Electrical Grids and Power Utilities

The Risk: Energy monopolies often hike rates while paying out massive shareholder dividends. Some massive utility operators are pushing the costs of green energy and AI grid upgrades onto everyday consumers.
The Need: Public utility commissions must strictly cap profit margins and stop unfair rate increases.

4. Public Mass Transit

The Risk: Private transport companies often abandon unprofitable routes. This isolates low-income neighborhoods and limits access to jobs.
The Need: Municipalities must operate buses and trains as a public service rather than a profit-making enterprise.

5. Public Healthcare and Hospitals

The Risk: Private hospitals may deny care to uninsured or low-profit patients and cut corners on staffing.
The Need: Strong caps on executive pay and healthcare costs are necessary to guarantee life-saving treatments for everyone.

6. Fire Protection Services

The Risk: Private fire departments can—and have—refused to put out fires if a homeowner has not paid their subscription fee.
The Need: Emergency response must be tax-funded and free at the point of service to protect all citizens equally.

7. Waste Management and Trash Collection

The Risk: Private trash haulers often "cherry-pick" affluent neighborhoods. They may skip low-income areas to save on collection costs.
The Need: Cities must strictly regulate routes to ensure every household receives fair and equitable garbage pickup.

8. Public Education (K-12 Schools)

The Risk: Private charter schools and for-profit education systems may cherry-pick the easiest students to teach. They often cut corners on special education services to boost profits.
The Need: Robust funding and oversight ensure every child gets an equal and free education.

9. Prisons and Correctional Facilities

The Risk: Private prisons are paid based on the number of inmates they house. This profit motive creates incentives for companies to lobby for harsher laws and skimp on basic inmate safety.
The Need: All incarceration should remain a strictly state-run operation focused on rehabilitation.

10. Roadways and Highway Systems

The Risk: Private toll roads allow corporations to charge fluctuating, high fees to drivers. They treat a daily commute as a money-making ATM.
The Need: States must maintain public roads to guarantee freedom of movement without corporate toll gouging.

11. Postal and Mail Services

The Risk: Private delivery companies avoid delivering to remote or rural areas where it is too expensive.
The Need: A public mail service ensures every person and business has equal access to communication and shipping, regardless of where they live.

12. Airport Management and Air Traffic Control

The Risk: Private airports and contractors can hike fees for airlines. These added costs are then passed directly onto travelers.
The Need: Public oversight prevents companies from squeezing flyers for every dollar while degrading the overall experience.

How Privatization Hurts Consumers: A Simple Analogy
Think of a natural monopoly as the only bridge in a town. If a town owns the bridge, they only charge a small toll to cover the cost of sweeping the road. If a greedy corporation buys the bridge, they realize you have no other way to get to work. They can raise the toll as high as they want, and you are forced to pay it because you have no other choice. Because you can't "shop around" for a different electrical grid or a different water pipe, these monopolies must be heavily regulated by the government.
