I love your channel man! You make a kitchen dummy like me into a cuisine chef 😂 god bless you man. You keep me from going hungry 😅
@dcazanasI eat one pound of butter per YEAR. I'm sure I'll never spend 1/4th of my annual allotment (and more, in those pats on top at the end) on one batch of mashed potatoes.
@mikethebeginnerNope - SOOOO tired of garlic in mashed potatoes; I want them to be NEUTRAL, and garlic just isn't. Yes, I know I can just leave it out, but maybe others won't. Make it CLEAR, please.
@triciak.bowers3569I did listen to the Epicurious guy saying NOT to cut in small pieces because they absorb more water and then will absorb LESS butter and milk later....
@elizabethheyenga9277I made these last night and my family loved it. Thank you😀
@elizabethpew176I bake russet potatoes until very done. That way, they are rich and already dry. Other than that, I proceed the same way….never never an electric mixer!
@lynnparrish1335Ok I literally just made them now and SO BOMB 💣. Might even do a shepherds pie later 🎉
@taraservel4585Ur talking to much
@DorigPrecyA brief note: a recipe from a Michelin-starred chef requires 50% potatoes and 50% butter and salt. That's it.
@wernerkl4036Can’t wait to try it out.. last Recipe I tried (Tres Leches Cake) Turned out Super delish…🎉 Thanks for Sharing the knowledge, you’re Awesome at explaining everything, plus I love your little History background info you provide with each recipe!
@marcobriceno6590This is my favorite kitchen on all of YouTube. If I could redo my kitchen cart blanch (or however you say it) I’d go exactly like this! The beautiful dark Scottish green high gloss enamel painted appliances with that brushed antique looking brass faucet and hardware. There’s no way that would ever go stale or out style. It would look perfect still 50 years from now.
@RRW276Bros pot is dirtier and rusty than the indians
@fatimaal_barzenji7547Lots of tips but one huge miss…..use a ricer. You’ll never have lumps again.
@stevealaskaman5680Interesting. I thought I knew how to make mashed potatoes. Oops!
@BBKAJ1This looks amazing! Can't wait to make some good old fashion homemade
@Diamond_in_Roughthanks alot for the vedio.. I was using a mixer and my potatoes were getting really gummy
@MrKakinyiUGGGGH! White pepper is HOTTER 🥵 THAN Black pepper!
@adamthompson7170Tried your approach for the first time this evening (for Christmas Eve dinner), and they were the best mashed potatoes ever. Relatively quick, easy, and delicious. Out son enjoyed two huge helpings. Sadly, I was not able to return for seconds, but am already looking forward to buttery leftovers on Christmas Day. Thank you and happy holidays!
@wstks-fmworldwide5390Wait is this how i find out people dont add cheese to their mash i thought it was required in the recipe 😂 potato cheese milk and butter 😳
@QuantumkhalilqueenThis has become THE mashed potatoes for the family. This year, we are honoring our late Mom by making Swedish Meatballs for Christmas. These potatoes will grace the dinner plate first, then the meatballs and sauce, accompanied by lingonberries. Oh, baby!😋 Merry Christmas to you and your family, John!🎄🧈🥔🧄
@trudyschaffer8016bloemige aardappelen nemen,anderen dat gaat niet!
Koken en door de passevite.Toevoegen gesmolten echte boter kruidnoot ..( stampen)
Men kan ook een beetje melk toevoegen..
Men kan er ook verse spinazie of spruitjes ondermengen.

ik ben van Belgie.
This is similar to mine except I boil the potatoes in chicken broth. I love the garlic flavor!
@GailHerdelAs I can see american mashed potatoes doesn't equal the french puree. Potato chunks in a puree isn't good for me.
@maximesafronov4870I would never say why bother, this is an easy recipe. I didn't know about the 'put back on stove to remove all water.' My mashed potatoes were like boulders
@AmbrosiaKThank you for the recipe!
@thplifecoachYour videos are awesome. Love how you blend in a lil history of subject along with the recipe. 😊
@lizsalazar5213you rilly made my thanksgiving. thanks man!
@potadodoom64The mash potatoes were awesome. Thanks for the recipe and cooking instructions.
@nancyanderson7137Good tips! I like to add chive cottage cheese!
@carissalizotte8977Hel-LO?? I JUST made these TWO MINUTES ago for Thanksgiving, and you're damn right, they ARE the best mashed potatoes like HOW do you come up with these awesome recipes???😭
@mdogouYou really makes me always hungry for food.😂❤
@aidal.castillo2959I watched Your mashed potatoes video from 4 years ago and then this one. This one is an updated version 😊
@susanna.espositoSan👍 Nice
@PaulelHow would you re-warm them if you make them a day ahead?
@tinamb5178Joh is one of my favorite. He’s great at explaining and educating recipes. His recipes always turn out for me!
@reneepomatto3625When making a day early, how long and at what temperature should I put them in the oven to heat up before serving.
@sheridayton9608Oh my, lol, I too thought it would be a no science dish and I did it all wrong on many points.
1st I added the potatoes to the hot water and splashed hot water on me.
2nd I added cold milk to the potatoes and then I over mixed them.
I always used russet potatoes and I never added the garlic in the water.
They were still delicious, no one would ever known different then.
Now since I’m a widow I guess I make your version for myself ❤
Feeds how many? Hello?
@justsayin3228Smaller cuts of potatoes absorb too much water. Better cut in half even though it takes longer. Worth it.
@sassysandie2865How many would you say this feeds?
@abbc805Delicious ❤
@rosammamathew7905Love this! I have learnt a lot! Thank you, John 😊
@mI6sanandOut of this world 😊
@chimbukachibangulula5635Why didn't you rinse the potatoes first before you put them to boil?
@sylviaarizmendez2401Bla bla bla
