The Amex Gold is still valuable if you shop for weekly at groceries and do Fine dinning once a week. Especially if you fly Delta or use Marriot hotels.
Otherwise, the Capital One Savor is the better choice.
So I’m sure you’ve been asked, what are the best grocery credit cards in 2025?
And like most questions, the answer is going to be: “It depends.”
DON'T PAY INTEREST % ON GROCERIES ! STUPID !
This is because there are numerous places to buy groceries.
Some shop at traditional grocery stores, some shop at Walmart or Target, some shop at Costco, but I’ll bet that a lot of us, myself included, shop at some combination of all 3.
Nobody has ever asked what the best grocery card is.
And one of the issues with this variety is that not every credit card is going to have the same definition of what a grocery store is.
So in this video, I’m going to identify the BEST grocery credit cards in 2025, presented in a rapid-fire style, so that you can once and for all figure out which is the best grocery credit card for you.
What if I used the PayPal MC debit card to buy a TV at Costco, and the card was set to groceries as my cash back category for the month? Does Costco code different purchases differently within a warehouse (e.g., groceries or TVs)?

For me, I’m going to apply for the citi custom cash. It’s OK if it has a $500 cap. I will use this on groceries like at Vons or sprouts and Trader Joe’s. And it will work well with my Apple Card as well. If one month I do cap it to 500. I can always go to my Apple Card. Thanks for the video. You are very helpful.👍🏼

Personally, I think that Ink Card would be more valuable for dining out, maybe gas. I haven't scene too many gift cards for grocery stores at Staples. Otherwise great job covering these as usual.

To add a data point. I applied for the Target debit card and it said under review and wait for decision in mail. I called the next day and was approved on phone with no further questions. This card completes my more unconventional grocery trifecta, which includes the PayPal debit card, Target debit card and Amazon Store Card for Whole Foods. I use PayPal debit for Costco only and prefer using other cards for concern of having too much non fdic insured money in PayPal. Thanks for the great video Stan!🎉

Thanks for this video! My parents are immigrants and they never used credit cards so I’m trying to learn about all this adulting stuff 😅

Does the 5% cash back work for the PayPal Debit card at Sam's Club since it also works at Walmart?

Looks like the Citi Custom Cash is the card for me. I don't stay at Hiltons, and don't spend more than $500/mo. for groceries. I also rarely buy groceries at WalMart, Target, or Costco. Mostly Kroger. Citi transfer partners are useless to me so it's cash all the way!

Great guide! I especially appreciate the mention of underrated options like the PayPal Debit and those niche grocery cards. Just a heads-up to anyone considering the debit route: make sure you're clear on the difference in fraud protections vs. credit cards. Strategy matters just as much as rewards!

My 2 chase ink business cards that I opened in September and October last year are showing up as hard inquiries. It puts me right at 5/24. Is this a mistake? Also, I have 1 inquiry from July 3, 2023. Should I wait until August to apply for a new card or is July safe to apply? Thank you
@stoneymoore463Had no idea on the PayPal Debit card, great knowledge being shared!
@RicardoFreeze92I have Walmart pay & I have the BOA customized cash rewards and I didn’t know Walmart codes as online shopping!!! Thanx so much Stan 😘😍
@MissEnglish123Paypal debit being, well, a debit card is fantastic for stores like Winco (usually the cheapest option around, but debit only). Believe it or not, the 5% category is arguably less important to me than the fact it's a debit card rather than a credit card - and I get both the debit and the 5% benefits! For us Winco shoppers, this is an absolute dream.
@gecsword0922Thanks for all the information, trying to save for a trip for next year and this will definitely help!
@piano_apprentice7017With the Paypal Debit card. If we get groceries delivered from Walmart will it still give us 5% or will it code as online? I've run into that issue with the AAA card. I guess secondary, with Walmart delivery, would any of these cards give us the 5% regardless of how we get the groceries?
@chase2001BEST WAL-MART CARD IS THE US SHOPPERS CARD 6% BACK
@CarlosHidalgo-s7gFuture debit also good with 5% on grocery (up to $400 per month spend) and no FTF. Other useful categories and promos
@yurig2530Dining next please
@WickedChrotleRight now for the $325 annual fee, my top card for groceries is the Gold card. If I got rid of the Gold card tomorrow and the year was up to cancel or downgraded the card back to Green, my top card would be my not 1, BUT 2 Citi Custom Cash cards if I use them both for groceries. After that, at 3x or 3%, it would be a 4 way tie between my 2 Savor cards, my Blue Cash Everyday and my Venmo Visa if I use it just for groceries. I could always down the line reupgrade by Amex BCE to the Blue Cash Preferred for the $95 annual fee. They are offering me a reupgrade offer since I've done the upgrade/downgrade game with Amex between Green and Gold twice and the once on the BCE to BCP and back to the BCE. They offered me $1000 spend for 30,000 points at least both time more or less to Gold. On the Blue Cash Everyday to Preferred, last year, I got $75 for $1000 spend in 6 months, after downgrading back to the Everyday, they gave me the exact same offer again, so my effective fee would be $20 until I would make it up with $20 in Rewards Dollars on the BCP and the rest would be profit used for statemenent credit. I also have the PayPal Debit card.
@Th33Vultur3pulls staples out of mouth. sighhhhh
@OKZK_BrosAAA Daily Advantage beats a lot of these. 5% on groceries including Walmart if your local one bills as Grocery. Also, 3% on wholesale stores, and it's a Visa. That's kinda hard to compete with for a versatile grocery card.
@mikesolomon2636Great job on YouTube ♥️
@vickiarnold7300Are there any grocery business cards? I have a restaurant and must use business cards
@jamesv5802I have the Blue Cash Preferred card myself and would like to mention that they offer $84/year ($7/month) back on Disney+ for people who subscribe to that service (AND 6% back on that total). 3x back on gas (including inside). 1x back on everything else. It's an incredible value and $95 is easily achievable...not to mention all the coupons that are available for ppl. 6x grocery works INSIDE the neighborhood Walmarts and any other traditional grocery stores
@husker_nationYou forgot how the Chase Sapphire Preferred can be used for Kroger Pay and that would trigger the 3x multiplier.
@jwil4286Thanks! 😊
@caribdude8151The USAA Cashback Rewards Plus is my grocery card. I buy my groceries on military bases (i.e. at the Commissary), so I get 5% cashback.
@CogitoErgoSum-she-herOne really important thing to consider when making decisions about what card to use is opportunity cost, especially when annual fees are involved.
I do most but not all of my grocery shopping at Walmart Neighborhood Market, which Amex codes as grocery. I got the Amex BCP for this reason. However, I realized that the opportunity cost of paying $95 for 6% at all grocery stores was not worth it, especially when I could downgrade to the Amex BCE for 3% at Walmart and open a Citi Custom Cash for 5x TYP on other grocery spend.
Ironically, it was an Amex customer survey that triggered me to reconsider and decide to downgrade. 😹
Though before I could execute the plan, I found out about the PayPal debit card (from you, Stan; thanks!) and have been using that. I still picked up the Custom Cash though; hoping for that TYP -> AA convertibility
Target debit card is really good for Target, 5% off plus free 2 day shipping
@scottosborn4439Right now I am using the Strata Premier, but I might downgrade it to a regular Strata for the same earning + 3X on live entertainment. It all depends on BILT's changes and if I'll need to continue with it as a grocery card. Going with the less favorable examples, 2X on grocery wouldn't be the end of the world if I transferred during Rent Day promotions.
@thejokerspeaksTo be honest the fact that the pay pal card is a debit card makes me nervous to actualy use it because you don’t have the same consumer fraud protections as you would if it was a credit card.
@sol_nb7143C1 Savor, Citi Custom Cash, Amex Gold are my jam. The extra leg work for the PayPal Debit with money transfers I will skip. I have the Huntington Voice Rewards with 3x for Walmart or the PayPal World MC 3% with Walmart through online!
@shawn.creditI go Amex BCP and max out the $6k in about 6mo. I use the Chase FF for the quarter it’s 5x and use my Amex gold the other times of year.
@gbouton2011ive seen people say the amex bce works at walmart using walmart pay. i haven’t recieved mine yet to confirm but i hope it’s true since i work at walmart
@kn34402Great video 🔥
@dpdavidparmerSince watching your last video and you helped me get he connect card
I got an offer for Amex
Chose the blue cash preferred
Now I have 4 credit cards
2 master
1 visa
1 Amex
What should I do next and do I maintain these cards for life?
I’ve got the BCP and use a rotation card (Flex) to offset the $6k cap when grocery pops up as the 5x quarter.
@ZackM72Costco shop card will count as online shopping with your BoA CCR getting 5.25% back. Can buy up to $500 at a time.
@landonp.4073🥇Capital One Savor🥇 Thanks for the info + video!
@jimmyjames6492We don’t get as many Stan videos as we used to. 😢
@SleepyRodBCP 6x cash back for grocery and streaming for effective $11/ year because with a family Disney/hulu have always been in our streaming library. Supplement with chase freedoms at 5x to get through the caps and a Robinhood gold 3x for Costco.
@jw4172In my case the AMEX Gold card (family of 4), we spend a lot in groceries, dinning and like the AMEX ecosystem.
Not for everyone but works for me. I need to get better card for Walmart and Sam’s (BBP 2x) That AAA Card is a great card. Great examples mi hermano Stan🫵
Playing the upgrade/downgrade, rinse and repeat game with the BCP and the BCE is going to beat any of these for lower spenders who shop at traditional grocery stores. I've gotten all my annual fees comped and then some with every upgrade offer.
@johnt6806Dave Ramsey says a debit card. Thinking that trading a dollar for 4 cents is dumb math. He has interviewed hundreds of millionaires and none of them got rich off of a dang grocery card.
