The AI Arsenal That Could Stop World War III | Palmer Luckey | TED
Video Overview & Insights
AI in warfare is no longer hypothetical; it's inevitable, says Palmer Luckey, an inventor and founder of the defense technology company Anduril Industries. He takes us inside the high-tech arms race to build AI-powered weapons, "killer robots" and autonomous fighter jets at scale â and makes the counterintuitive case for why this may be the surest path to deterrence and lasting peace. (Followed by Q&A with technologist Bilawal Sidhu) (Recorded at TED2025 on April 8, 2025)

Same old I build weapons of death to foster peace! Same lie people have been telling for decades just to get rich! How about generically engineering a virus that infects everyone and kills peopleâs greed and need for power! A ego killing disease! Problem solved!

Too politically inclined, fantastical in imagination, and maybe a hint of self promotion for the benefit of the company hi runs, and thus the steakholders.
Wanted to see some science but saw a military inclined political speach.

@fryimagesrussians already send AI-driven drones that target ukrainian fuel stations and emergency/police vehicles on a daily basis!
@vals.1908It's funny to hear all these Taiwan fantasies after Trump's bow to Xi and his refusal to supply weapons and give any support to the island just not to upset His Majesty XiZinPin the Greatest!
@vals.1908Will Sarah Connors get him before he succeeds in his AI-ish frictions?
@vals.1908I wonder which politician he gave $9,000 to. It might help us understand his motivations a little better.
@williamcartwrightartworksSurprise? How do you surprise an island that a bunch of ships are on the way? Satellite surveillance and all. Oh and while we are the subject how do you mass an invasion force assemble it load it on boats all without satellite surveillance tipping everyone in the world off?
No there is no way to surprise invade any where. Just can't happen.
Is US keeping the democracy? Please wake up!
@caseylee3314So is this a new âart of warâ tactic? Appear friendly and peaceful, while simultaneously building world ending technology?
This is going nowhere good. The escalation tied to these concepts will be apocalyptic. How about all governments agree to NEVER incorporate âdumbâ AI into weapons systems? Cmon UN, lets write up a treaty right now, before everyones backyards are covered in snow and ash.
Write up a pact, and get everyone on board, everybody with a hand on the âwheelâ. If anyone uses AI in their weapons systems, the collective military strength of the entire world jumps into action, and neutralizes the technology as peacefully and minimally destructive as possible. The military leaders are stripped of their ranks and titles, the governing officials get replaced with less maniacal individuals, and hopefully humanity becomes one step closer toward world peace.
AI should be a goal for human evolution, not a weapon. We should strive to evolve to the point of one day being capable of integrating ourselves into cybernetic systems. Imagine it, stage one, humans live their lives and if desired can upload their minds at end of life into a new body, one with the ability to link and interconnect with the web. Stage 2, as the universe becomes less hospitable, âsquishyâ biological life will become more difficult, perhaps one day humanity will choose to no longer reproduce, and cybernetic humans/âAIsâ will be indistinguishable.
Yes, there are NUMEROUS ways all of that could go terribly terribly wrong, but also, i believe there are ways it could go very right. Like anything, it will take attentive care and micro corrections along the way, to bring about the greatest possible outcome, a Utopia đ€·đ»ââïž, Eden, Nirvana/Heaven/whatever else people have been dreaming of since the dawn of man.
Imagine it, the clocks run out, the big bang has collapsed back in, there have been many ingenious maneuvers and saves as we escape the blackholes and super stellar objects; the cosmos cutting electromagnetic rays zinging through entire galaxies from unfathomably large white holes; the threats we have not yet even discovered⊠but gravity is what it is, the wave recedes, lifeâs collective consciousness exists within a hivemind or cluster of hiveminds, we all âhold handsâ for one last inter-connective, true blissful moment, and the tidal waves crash together, cacophinacally.
The cycle begins again(?)
But hey man, what does any of it matter anyway? Nothing matters, right?
Lucky Palmer. These are men after my heart. Creating is in their blood.
@Alma-q6mBullshit warmongering nonsense!!
@timyonker1376Doesnât sound very smart đđđ
@TaylorCrane131211:54 â It is easy for a billionaire tech founder who has never served a day in uniform to talk about the ethics of killing from a position of absolute safety. America shouldn't let Silicon Valley entrepreneurs normalize autonomous warfare when they have never faced the actual human cost of military service.
@CCasdfPlease correct me, but new technology in the past two world wars made the conflicts longer and bloodier. How are drones going to save humanity?
@idrisselba4451Wait. Is roomba still around? I thought irobot was gone.
@c.y.7934The future of warfare is killing innocent people!!
@rrvillareal2011This guy's no joke
@tedproia7566How does more weapons stop Wars?
@CreativePivotGreat guy
@donjohnson4368But China is way ahead in tech so......
@rdm1156China will not invade Taiwan.
@tonywalker7602Before it was the Russians, now is China. How many countries did China bombed this century and how many the USA?
@darlinsebastian.3229This "dude" is a perfect illustration of not judging a book by its cover.
@MonsieurLiIron-Man
@cholintunGreat this is a giant commercial for this guy to sell his AI drones. Is this Guy for Real fostering peace this guy will sell out to anyone who buys his autonomous weapons. Bro autonomous weapons have been around for at least 10 years. It does not matter the US government will just continue to spend 10 times with everyone else will including your autonomous drones.
@billdavis2439I would be interested to hear Kojima and Palmer Luckey have a discussion. Not because I know what the outcome would be.. but because I have absolutely no idea what the outcome would be. He actually seems like a character FROM a Kojima series... like this guy was inspired by Kojima's characters and became one? But without fully understanding what Kojima was getting at? Maybe even I am completely wrong. Open to that too. But yes, I still think it could be fascinating to throw those two in a room together for discussion and just see where it goes.
But maybe not? Maybe it's too on the nose.. ?!
I digress
Funny that he enumerates a lot of things that will happen if China overthrown the US. And it is EXACTLY what the US has been doing for over a century with other countries...
@victordesaneves5955We will surely have less wars after it happens. Looking forward for seeing United States military power sink.
@victordesaneves5955Jokes on US. CCP China took his ideas and applied to their already large military
@whm_w8833Fear & paranoia = $$$$
@harrygooch834It is crazy that it's not the defense industry being the most cutting edge tech development
@Jeremy-v7t4zTaiwan is as good as gone...we can't even enter the south China sea , the amount of missiles China has exceeds our interceptor capacity a thousand fold...
@Jeremy-v7t4zNice try fed
@BronsonFosterr3:01 he such a genius but canât memorize his speech haha đ€Ł
@WestViews132:43 he straight up a fed dweeb.
@WestViews130:09 what a dweeb
@WestViews13so hi tech that and a school got bombed in Iran
@ponderings4599Trump is now enlisting Ford and GM to mass produce Luckey's weapons systems.
@ChaptersOfTheBloodQuién es este loco asesino, Dios nos proteja
@cosmicdrinkExactly capabilities when needed is the key, smart AI!
@lbeautybyrva9934I bought an ETF that had Anduril as one of its offerings. I believe in Palmer.
@lylesakamoto6511But it is America which is creating all the wars
@shaimudkhan1539This nerd is trying too hard to be Tony Stark. His company would do much better if he just hires a puppet CEO in a real suit.
@GuillermotortizThis is straight up US military propaganda
