Hi Emma, what sound is just 'a', not 'æ'. I am from Wolverhampton and I think we use a more 'a' sound.

how else thought it was like ae as in bAby
I teach using just one of many accents in the world. Please only learn it if you like it and if you are interested in learning it. I do not believe there is one “correct” accent or manner of pronunciation and I fully encourage EFL/ESL learners to expose themselves to as many varieties of English around the world to become accustomed to the beautiful variations of this world language. I focus mostly on teaching “Modern RP” (I may just say “RP” in my older videos, but to clarify, I do specifically mean “Modern RP”), however, you will hear a lovely little Yorkshire twang to my accent from time to time too. Please LOVE and BE PROUD of your accent. After all, it is part of your identity and makes you unique. 💚
Not me thinking it was pronounced like “I”

@mafakka2So this the name Elon Musk gave his son
@latishasmith5969For almost 75 years, I've pronounced the name "Aesop", as "Eesop", should I have been pronouncing it as "Assop", or is that a fable? Also, whilst I have your eye, how do I pronounce "ae" as in Geraniaceae? Thank you in advance.
@nammo9460I pronounce Æ as in ae literally
@bulleteevee9134Ah
@DSM-sirensI always hear it pronounced "ee" like Caesar, Vertebrae, alumnae...

@saturn3566Is it correct that some English people use "a" sound instead of "æ"? I checked the word "rag" in Oxford dictionary and it is with "a" sound and the same word in Cambridge dictionary with æ sound. I'm really confused. "a" - Open front unrounded vowel. Wiki article with the name of the sound confirms my theory 😊
@Couch_fighterTo me that sounds kind of like ä
@oltzu5206In danish where we actually use the letter æ, it is pronounced like the second example. That she claim is an wrong xD
@junoelzæ that is a danish letter

@HachimiOnYoutubeMy lord you are cute
@Richard_Potatothe /æ/ sound, combining "a" (as in "ah") and "e" (as in "eh"), would be represented as:
æ = aaaaeeeh
Blowfish: ÆUGH
@jpyt845Please, could you explain the difference with /ʌ/ sound? (sound similar)
@SteveHiwgaIn America, the a in man does not sound like the a in sad or bat.
@jameswilliams2269FWÆH
@AutisticretiggaFinally someone who explained it easily. And not giving me a 10 minute speech on the origins of Latin.
@hakenkreuz7076nuh uh
@MateTPI thought it was ahhh-eeeeeee
@LetterQ-17I'm still unsure about this. In the dictionary I find both this /ae/ and the /a/ phonetic tokens. The /a/ is present in the word hot /hat/. But to me it sounds exactly like the way you pronounce the /ae/ in this video. On the other hand, I've always pronounced the /ae/ as an intermediate sound between the 'e' in "red" and the 'a' in "ah".
