I’ve made this for about 20 different people and they say it’s the best fish fry they’ve ever had. Thanks for sharing this great recipe. I have used it on bluegill’s Croppie and walleyes.
Here's the ingredients (The entire list is approximate)
1 Cup flour
I love this kitchen fry mix I used this all the time for my family nd they loved it thank you
1 Cup yellow corn meal
2-3 Cups grated Parmesan cheese
I’ll use buttermilk and one egg. I’ve got to try the Parmesan cheese. I’ll try it tomorrow as I’ve got some fish thawing.
2-3 TBS Lawry's seasoned salt
1 TBS garlic powder
Great recipe! We did it three ways tonight. The way shown on the video of wet fish with breading padded on. We also did an egg/milk dip, and then breading padded on, then tried breading, then an egg/milk dip, then breading again. The general consensus seemed to be the double breading dip was the best! Adds a nice layer of crunch to it. Thanks so much for sharing!
1 TBS paprika

I fry my fish in a smallish cast iron pot/ dutch oven, with about 3/4" of PEANUT oil in it. Peanut oil has a very high smoke point, won't transfer the fishy flavor to other items (chips etc) and if you strain out any chunks it can be reused several times 😊

@james1stfulOh so I just tried you're recipe and im not going to lie I wished I found this years ago. So last night I caught a bunch TauTog in the Chesapeake Bay and tonight I deep fried then bad boys up. This is by far the best breading only thing is I didn't use the seasoning salt and added a few spices of my own and it's the best of the best! Tyvm Sir!
@christophertoti6721When I fry Redfish, Speckle Trout, Catfish, or any other New Orleans area fish I catch I use mustard to wet the filets the coat with Zaratarans Crispy Southern fish fry, I might try to add Parmesan to the mix next time, as the fish fry is seasoned already.
@Nolaman70Been eating catfish all my life, never would I use any breading on them, for most people save yourself time and mess, broil or cook your fish in light oil, take a spoon eat a spoon of flour, then eat a spoon of cornmeal, then when your done and warsh that down. Set back and really enjoy what great fish taste like, raised in the south and never do we bread any fish, taste the fish for what it is, so much healthier as well even as tasting what fish is, I tried one time a fish that was breaded, from. A freind, all I tasted was flour and cornmeal, I dont get it? Im so glad my gramma and mom cooked them without breading😊
@iamburl2667Cornmeal sucks. Use panko, or make batter.
@kuei1215nice, glad i came upon this. I use the grated parmesan in my chick parm but never thought to use on my fish fry recipe. i'll prob use a bit less but sure it will be good.
@Bel_Mali😅Thanks for your recipe.
@terencegillespie6675I will definitely try this out. TY
@JeffPomeroy-e3iI've been using a similar recipe for over 30 years. It uses Corn Flake crumbs, grated parmesan cheese, lawreys garlic and seasoned salt, basil, and oregano. Dip fish or chicken in butter then roll in the mixture and bake in the oven. As good as it gets! We also use Andy's fish seasoning, which is basically corn meal with seasonings. I will have to try a combo of your version with Andy's. Sometimes it's fun to experiment with different recipe to keep things fresh😊
@MerlSmith-c7vI can't wait to try this. Thank you for sharing 🍻
@WI_UserBeen baking more fish. Using parmesian. Less fat tho i do love fried. Ill be trying this recipe. You meadure like i do :)
@markdumas6387Look good !
I would probably add a little black or red pepper
Give it a little kick
Thank you so much!
@robertskillings864Don't use milk or eggs to prep the fish. Use beer instead. Shake of excess prior to the dip. Works great every single time! Also, don't shake them in plastic. Use a paper bag, which soaks up excess moisture.
@millfoilmillard3472That looks fantastic! I'd replace the Seasoned Salt with something to avoid the MSG. Never thought of putting cheese into a batter!
@jeffbryan3224Just got back from Walmart bought everything on the list I'm getting ready to put it all together and fix the fish add fried potatoes we have always used McCormick's beer batter already mixed in the Box so we'll see what happens I figure 30 years it must be good thanks for the video 2-21-26
@mikemaryan369Sounds like I need to go fishing soon so we can make fish.
@RebeccaHaugeto-f7dAnyone try this recipe using franks red hot as a binder? Recipe looks delicious!
@andyzellmer2686What kind of oil do you use?
@swampthing31Sounds really good
Going to try this on our Friday fish dinner 👍
Thanks, never thought about cheese, I’ll try it on some crappie fillets
@Tackleman55Have you tried Panko?
@garthpromisesbillingstheda3076Im gonna definitely try this, i love the parmsean idea! One tip i do is ,put my cooked fried fish on a cookie cooling rack with paper towels underneath, helps keep it crispy.
@888greennugsI've added one more ingredient to mine tho
Potato buds or flakes
Alittle crisper in my opinion.
Its sounds good but I would only use it on strong tasting fish. Never walleye
@terryetienne1709That's not grated parm, it's sawdust in a jar
@randyrussell5035Thanks!
@originalseahorseExcellent recipe! We own a camp in Canada (Trappers Point Camp) will share the recipe with our guest.
