A super video for a beginner! You have made it easy and fun to get the basic steps remembered. Thank you !!!
0:00 Intro
0:43 Step 1 - Growing Mushroom Culture On A Petri Dish
Curious about the disposal of the 12.5pH hydrated lime mixture… I’m guessing using vinegar or citric acid powder perhaps to neutralize?
2:37 Step 2 - Transferring Culture To Sterilized Grain
3:36 Step 3 - Expand The Grain Spawn
I appreciate your effort but this was not 'quick' and was confusing and overwhelming
5:45 Step 4 - Spawn The Grain To A Bulk Substrate
7:06 Step 5 - Colonization
instructions unclear, i shot my dog
8:10 Step 6 - Induce Pinning
9:00 Step 7 - Fruiting and Harvest
I know right

Where does everyone get straw, from?? I can’t find it at any garden store!
@theOGdjpopcornHow do you sterlise your rice and what ratio do you use for worm castings and vermiculite and do I need to use rice to start the spores
@TammyHorn-wj7xmCan oyster mushrooms also grow from wooden plugs put into oak logs?
@bookbeingGreat, thanks!
@jsfingerstylewhat kind of mushrooms do you think people would grow in a post apocalyptic world that was ravaged by nukes in the past? I feel like that would be the best farming option. that and moss
@Slothrules77Is it possible to take a piece / scoop of the mycelium from the fruiting body and have it colonize a new bed? Instead of some flesh, agar dish then grain?
@kwhyle6765Thankyou
@tucker2074How do we store the agar plate?
At what temperature and for how long can be stored?
Fantastic video!
@DiscreetStigmachatgpt told me that at some point i still have to buy new mycelium, because you can not just use the same one over and over again as it will idk grow old. But how can i do so that i won't have to buy a new bach from the store but to keep the process going on truly forever so that the harvests still stay big?
@customlatteartGreat work. Thank you!
@CamdiniYou made this very easily understandable and we're thorough in showing each stage or process thankyou for that clarity ❤
@GreenestUrsaI watched the video on how to make grain spawn. After the grain spawn is colonized and then adding to substrate, should I not be worried about contamination at this stage? I am assuming the substrate is sterilized but how do I add the grain spawn to the new sterilized bag of substrate without a chance of contamination? A flow hood is needed now ??
@raysteel6317crazy they took down the site/article
@setulokavid7745Thanks, this was very helpfull!
@TraumatoDreamThank you, I understand better now
@paulinemartin8773Azurencis working 🎉
@phildc9397Thank you so mutch, i was searching for a proper way to grow mushrooms. ❤
@ElsaNolteQuestions...When spores are introduced to grain jars...Light or dark to grow? Temperature?
@JoeBanjo88Q: I bought a "ready to fruit" package from Marvelous Mushrooms about 10 days ago. Was it ready to fruit when the only mycelium colonisation was a thin layer at the bottom of the bag?
@robwilton9539why you put cotton on top of the jar lid?
@YouTubeChannel-fu5ywsubbed! thank you so much

@Sisikoko1You lost me at how you pronounce process 🤣
@mattcrow8878Very informative. Thank you!
@fine2dreamw618To @FreshCap Mushrooms this isn't directly intended to be towards you or be offensive, it's just something I've felt about a lot of mycology Youtubers recently.
Don't let mycology nerds work you up, you can literally go straight from spore syringe to LC mixture and then directly to your grain jar. I've done it with 3 strains now and took my time and used proper sterile technique and have successfully colonized hundreds of jars of B+, JMF and PE this way. Don't get me wrong, if you have the time and money and really want to geek out you can get a flow hood and use petri dishes to test everything and be really methodical about each and every part of the process. But that is time consuming and expensive and in my opinion unnecessary to do unless you are intending to do mycology at a professional or business grade level. I have a sterilite mono-tub home-made still air box and made my own modified lids and once again have never had any contamination at the point of inoculation or colonization processes. I've also had LC mixes last for over 2 years in the fridge, I am still using a B+ one from 04/22/2023 right now. That culture is still colonizing grain with no contamination at the same rapid pace it did originally nearly 2 years ago. You can get into this hobby for roughly $300-500 bucks, and don't let people on some forum or website tell you otherwise. Literally the most expensive piece of equipment to get into mycology is a pressure cooker, which can be purchased for just over $100. You don't need a lab. You don't need a flow hood. You don't need to have a degree or medical research grade gear to grow mushrooms. They grow on dirt, hay, and feces naturally. Simply start with the shoe-box method and move up to a monotub of a larger size when you are confident in your cultivation techniques and results
Thank you very much.
@Tiina-v5zI want to do this so badly but it's so expensive for me rn 😢❤
@infinitedarknessebGreat vid

@pabloreyes6148This video is super helpful! I recently started a similar project; I’d love to share my journey on my channel!
@TheModernFarmer23How long should the covering of substrades be during mycelium colonization/incubation period. Should the covering wait for the mycelium to complete it's run then it shall be removed for fruiting body or there should be some holes/gaps created for air circulation during that stage?
@Lion_AIDhello was there was many kind of master but there was a process to making mycelium to mushroom but which kind of mushroom I need and how to grow it there was many kind of mushroom so that a typically once kind of mushroom that I need to go and how process is please can you tell me
@toxicsotI used non of that.
Just mixed soil, wood chips, tree leaves and left it to damp and rot a bit.
Yes, the boxes were clean and sterile.
However, it took three months to see results.
Kept the boxes in a dark abient temperature environment and three months later, I started collecting them by the kilogram every week. So you do need to leave the mushroom to grow to a decent size.
