I live near Springfield. It’s worse than it was when this video released. Definitely in decline, crime rate is even higher now, the “migrants” are still here causing problems and International sold the plant here and they’re gone after September 30th.

I live in Ohio and I can agree. It's a shame because the city of Dayton used to be awesome in the 80s and 90s with its music and art scene. If you've been to Detroit you'll notice that Dayton (lil Detroit) has a similar feel — high crime and not much left. Someone told me jokingly that if you stay in Ohio more than 30 days you won't leave, and if you do you'll return. Ohio has changed in more ways than one, and it's sad because none of them are for the better. The Oregon District in Dayton used to be super laid back and fun to visit, but because of the changed mindset and the crowd it attracts now, I haven't set foot there since the mass shooting. Nope.

IMHO, the "Rust Belt" begins in Springfield MA. and ends somewhere near the Illinois/Iowa state line. Lotta real estate. Imagine if ALL manufacturing never left this country. Some things really are too good to be true. In a way I blame us. Me included of course. We all want cheap (inexpensive) shit, don't we?

@stilwelljoshwaOhio is a rather boring state. I lived near its geo center in the mid - late 90s and I have lots of family who still lives there. It's a nice state to live and work but bringing in tourists isn't something they are good at.

@dieseldiesel9292The only accurate description was East Cleveland….there are many nice places with good people living in the other cities, living most of my life in Cleveland, I meet people from everywhere who really enjoy their time spent in Cleveland cause we have fabulous families and hardworking people from many generations….with diverse ethnic backgrounds making our city colorful and cultural! If you can’t say something, nice you should keep your mouth shut!

@Reborn_EnthusiastAs a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor graduate student who received his PhD during one of the roughest periods historically where the academic job market was concerned—-in the late 1990’s, when on average even those of us with degrees from the best universities in the world generally had to do low-paying, no-security adjunct work for 3-5 yrs before finally landing pretty much close to the final batch of tenure-track professorships——I thought myself actually LUCKY to have landed a multi-year adjunct position at Bowling Green State University just south of Toledo in the desolate, cornfields-everywhere, flat, frozen cultural wasteland that is NW Ohio…….Truly one of the bleakest, most intensely depressing, intellectually and artistically DEAD places I had EVER experienced——*particularly* since I had just spent the previous six years living in the utterly delightful; culturally, creatively, and musically vibrant; diverse; open-minded; lovely intellectual oasis of civilisation of Ann Arbor as I was completing my doctoral studies and dissertation-writing!! Even though Ann Arbor is a mere 60 miles north of Bowling Green, as soon as one exits Ann Arbor’s city limits and crosses the state line into OHIO, it feels as though one has made either an interplanetary or inter-dimensional transit!
I was psychically able to remain in Bowling Green for less than two yrs. Had to escape, even though the University there had “invented” a professorship just for me, in a bid to get me to stay…Fortunately, I stuck to my guns and found an INFINITELY preferable tenure-track professorship in PA the next year; have been here ever since, and this yr begins my phased retirement! Have often wondered which psychiatric hospital for the criminally INSANE i’d have ended up in had I foolishly allowed myself to be lured into STAYING in that absolute shit-hole!
The dummy’s doesn’t know what he is talking about. . The Haitians are not only still in Springfield, but they are making a contribution. Business that couldn’t get enough employees are employing Haitians. The Haitians ads rehabbing houses that were in disrepair. They are having a positive impact on the community. Don’t listen to dummies who don’t bother to learn the truth.

@debbimiller9585Living in the Philadelphia area, a few years ago I drove out to Ohio for the first time. I chose Youngstown. The city center made me say 'where tf am I?!". I picked a decent hotel just outside the city limits to stay overnight. I woke up at 2 am to use the bathroom. With the light on coming back to the bed, I saw spiders crawling around the mattress. I noped the hell out of there and drove home. I told the counterman what I found in my bed and I was leaving and he looked at me saying "that's really odd. I'll let the maintenance crew know"
I left a review on Google about my experience. Not surprisingly, they have an overwhelming number of negative reviews
