Full synthetic is superior..it can handle heat better in the summer and in the winter start easier....doesn't get thick like regular oil...plus it last longer...between oil changes...less wear on the motor too..Mobil 1 is KING...

You can use synthetic. 10 W 40 is perfect even on old diesel. Don't you understand the deference?

Scotty, I love you and the energy and drive you put into your work/videos. You always talk about not wasting money. Seems like you wake up in the middle of the night and bark a few times as to not wear out or over use your dog! Some of us love our cars and our mistresses too. We’ll spend on them…

Most people over think it, Mobil 1 is top tier. Change your oill every 3,000 miles (unless OEM states otherwise) and youll see the difference..

If you change your own oil, there is no reason not to use synthetic (unless it’s a very old car like he mentioned). At most, it’s $3-5 more. Personally, I use the cheapest brand name full synthetic.

Newer vehicles are designed to go longer between oil changes (5000 miles) and design to used synthetic blend or full synthetic

Scotty, do u use expensive HIGH ZINC oil, or a ZINC ADDITIVE, or just the cheapest conventional SP 10w30 or 10w40 oil with no zinc additive in that old black Vette with flat tappet cam?

Hey Scotty.. Love your stuff man. Fun! But seriously, when regular oil goes in at the factory everything is "peachy".. BUT! If an owner decides to switch to synthetic the owner CANNOT go back! The synthetics change the properties of the gaskets and oil shall obey gravity at that point. I am not a spokesman for any brand of synthetic. But as a former employee of one it was explained to me as said above . Remember, ONCE YOU GO WHACK YA CANT GO BACK!

I have a 2018 Volvo XC60 from USA, 2.0, 310HP

Manufacturer on it’s website recommends 2 types of oil

1. If I search by my VIN, or year+date it states:

Fully synthetic engine oil of at least ACEA A5/B5 - SAE 5W-30

Or

Volvo's VCC RBS0-2AE/SAE 0W20 oil is recommended for extreme conditions.

2. If I search by engine name (B4204T27) it states:

Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 or VCC RBS0-2AE 0W-20

I have 3 questions:

A) What does volvo mean by extreme conditions?

B) When volvo states it needs “RBS0-2AE” – can I translate it to European ACEA C5?

C) Which oil and why should I pick? I live in Poland where temperature ranges from -25 Celsius to +30 Celsius

Clean oil is better than dirty old oil! All you newbie to changing oil don’t all of us started out knowing nothing about anything level 1 . Just change it on time 3000mile is the standard some cars can go longer but I personally don’t trust that. Example my car says it can go 7500 mile between changes but I change it at 3500/4000 miles and it black and thin really watery at that point already. Synthetic is the best use it none of that semi synthetic or conventional stuff spend the extra $5 n get full synthetic and a new filter every time and ur car will last forever well no issues from lack of oil lubricants
