In this video I show you situations related to the right of way at stop signs. A lot of new drivers get confused at intersections with stops signs. This video is intended to help everyone understand how make it smooth at such intersections.

A stop sign is used to control traffic and is usually found at road intersections. Stop signs instruct drivers about the right of way and ensure proper notice is taken to avoid accidents. Standard stop signs are red octagons with “STOP” printed in white letters. When you see one at any corner or intersection, know that you must stop and proceed only if the way ahead is clear, and after obeying any rules regarding right of way.

Ok good. During my driving test i had the situation of going forward and the other car going to their left. When the light turned green i guess it was green for both of us. They started moving at the same time as me and it threw me off since i could have sworn right of way was for the one going straight. I did like break for a moment to see if they would go, you know, so i dont end up in a crash, they didnt so i drove on. But yeah, i did pass my exam and the lady didnt bring it up, so i wasnt too worried about it

FIFO is correct, but people across from each other should go at the same time. If you are turning left, stop in the middle until it’s clear. A 4-way stop is not a "one at a time" stop; it should run like a production factory.

At a 4-way stop, if all drivers arrive at the same time, the drivér on the opposite side of the driver that moves first can also move at the same time. If one of the pair is turning left, the turning driver yields to the driver going straight.

Then the following 2 drivers can also move at the same time, following the same rules and the example @2:55.

If all 4 drivers decide to go one at a time, waiting for the person on their right (after the first driver moves), it's viable but will result in backed up traffic because every person is moving one at a time instead of in pairs.

During a 4 way, everyone stops at the 4 way intersection, but the person who stopped first waited for a pedestrian. The car to his right and left almost always go before the first car that stopped since they don’t have to wait for the pedestrian. The rules seem to apply arbitrarily when that happens. Are the vehicles that went before the car that stopped first in the wrong?

@3:17 - what if the white car to our right wants to make a right turn and the car to our left wants to make a left after both coming to a stop at the same time? You didn’t think of every scenario. I presume the car trying to make a right turn goes first.

What about when you stop at a two way stop, person A gets there first and is turning left but has to wait for traffic going across first. Then person B arrives while waiting for the traffic to stop, and they are going straight. Does the person (B) who is going straight go first?

Also, what if the person turning left (A) got there slightly before the person going straight (B), does the person turning left go first?
