cant feel sorry for people who volunteered for controlled violence none of them are conscripted at the first place so I don't know how you become a victim at the first place got a government salary, pension, arms, armor and out in patrol. Theres no such thing as being a victim if they get shot stabbed or blowen up by a crook or subject.

@maxcore5815

I say you can not be a police officer until you pass a college 4 year courses on the constitution. The true meaning of insane is handing a person a gun and badge to uphold laws they didn't study on! Attorney's and judges need to go through it and that's just to represent the law! They aren't handed a gun and badge! Think about this for a minute and tell me I'm wrong! Push-ups do not help citizens with disputes or crimes. My opinions, do your own research

The process is rigged against Black People; Black People who do get into the profession get lucky, because not many make it even if all requirements are met...... I have been applying to departments for nearly 8 years now. My background is clean. Here in West Tennessee, it is very hard to get hired unless you have connections

Bro, this is way more hard harder than joining the military. I was going to apply to be a state trooper, but I think I have to reconsider…. Specially about jobs when I was young I quit or got fired. I think that’s a bad resume already. 😂

Would I struggle if English is not my 1st language? Or it would reduce my chances? I'm currently a U.S soldier, wasn't born in the U.S, been leaving in the U.S for about 7 years, Im getting out in 2 years and I'm really thinking of becoming a cop (I like the army, is super easy but I can't see myself doing this for longer than 4 years)

The psyc test is what I failed when applying to the police, I was honest with my answers and don’t believe I answered in a way that made me not compatible with policing, and the worst part is they will not tell you the reason as to why you failed so you have to figure it out on your own

@RyanH2198
@

Boy that poly is a mf. Didn’t pass. But the questions I failed on were things I 100% know I’m not lying about or were so long ago.
My investigator told me I’d just take it again like the others did but I guess my examiner thought otherwise.

Becoming a police officer today means stepping into a system that many people feel is deeply broken. It’s not just about enforcing laws—it’s about becoming part of an institution that often prioritizes power, punishment, and control over real public safety or genuine community support. For many, that’s a moral conflict too big to ignore.

The job is tied to a system that frequently fails the very people it claims to protect. From excessive force to discriminatory practices to the way the justice system brands people for life, the entire structure is weighed down by corruption, profit motives, and policies that harm communities instead of healing them. When you join that system, you’re not just wearing a badge—you’re expected to uphold all of it, even the parts that destroy trust, take lives, or strip people of opportunities.

There’s nothing honorable about stepping into a role where you’re pressured to defend actions you don’t believe in, follow orders that go against your values, or participate in a machine that creates more problems than it solves. Many people look at the reality of modern policing and feel that joining it would mean compromising who they are.

And that’s why, for a lot of people, becoming a police officer isn’t a point of pride—it’s a symbol of participating in a failing system that desperately needs change, not more recruits to keep it running the same way it always has.

Any tips on how to overcome not having the "experience"? I've done multiple oral board interviews, and they all tell me the same thing (I have yet to pass an oral board). I have the qualifications to be a great officer, but I dont have the experience. What does this REALLY mean, and how can I fix it?
