It's not the first Tory by-election victory in Scotland since 1967, it's the first gain since then. But the Tories held their seat in a by-election in Edinburgh North in 1973. So 1973 was the last time they won a Scottish by-election, and 1967 was the last time they gained a Scottish seat in a by-election.

The political landscape in England is fkd to be quite honest. The right wing media (The Sun, Telegraph and Daily Mail) runs hourly stories berating any leader that they don't like (along with the daily obligatory cancer scare story) and people take it as truth. I'm not quite sure why Starmer is so unpopular (I'm centrist I suppose). Is he a bad communicator - yes. He could do with some more passion and conviction. Does the Labour party have bad communication as a whole - definitely. My gripe with Starmer is that he's taking shekels and using our military to help commit a genocide. He's tried to appease the right - knowing that they're consuming outlets such as The Sun daily. I personally think we need to stop the migrant boats whatever the cost. He's not appeasing the left with some policies. He seems to have been banned on commenting that the country's in a real mess because of the last incompetents. I've even seen presenters tell him that he can't say that - but it's true!!! He needs to be a whole lot bolder and he needs to get our military and financial grip of Israel off our country and if he can't do it he should step down
