Maul set Anakin on that path the moment he killed Qui-Gon and Anakin was everything Maul was supposed to be.
They're both Palpatine's tools that are forever scarred by Obi-Wan and I hope to god next season does the beef get spilled out between the two.

Maul was simply the rage. Vader was the Rage of Maul, the Regret of Dooku, the Machine of Grevious, all merged into one. The perfect weapons built into one being to serve the greatest evil history has ever known: the one, true Dark Lord of the Sith.
Love Maul's little mid duel interview with Vader. You know he senses who it is, but his eyes deceive him.

@chaosewokVader being able to dominate Maul and two Jedi all at once in a duel just shows that he’s the best swordsman in the galaxy. Literally the only reason he lost to Obi Wan on Mustafar is that he allowed his rage and arrogance to cloud his judgement, which caused him to make the mistake Obi Wan exploited to cut him in half. He would’ve beaten Obi Wan if he had kept his head clear and his emotions under control. And if he had never been injured and put in the armor, Vader would’ve become far more powerful than both Sidious and Yoda, both in the force and with a lightsaber
