The wisdom and intelligence to be able to help so many. How could she have been anything less than divine. Her heart must have hurt so much for every life she could've saved, those she had to leave behind to fates worse than death. How many brothers and sisters did she not even get to say goodbye too. Did she ever sleep a night without seeing their faces? God... Stars... Did she ever blame herself for the lives she couldn't save? Did she ever forgive herself?
Her feet must have been scarred for walking so much for so long... even if she had help from abolitionists she still had to do the most labor. The weight of every life she successful saved... and every life that didn't quite make it to freedom. Did she ever get frustrated? Resentful for how weak mankind really was that this was the only way they could overcome their oppressive abusers? I learned about Harriet Tudman in elementary school to which she became one if my heros to look up too. Even though I was encouraged as a white girl to admire betsy ross instead. Still she was known as the female moses. Really I wonder if she wasn't instead higher up. Cause carrying so many lost sheep to safer pastures seems more Christ like, especially after all the physical damage it had to have taken, emotional and mental. He had a crown of thorns while she had to walk through thorns to save her flock...
Watched the movie and the lyrics really struck me - Harriet was out, alone, walking, watching to avoid being taken up again. To help her own. Can we do less for all life? All species?
