Sports Betting: What DraftKings & FanDuel Don’t Want You To Know

Video Overview & Insights

DraftKings and FanDuel control 67% of the sports betting market, and they’ve made the experience much worse for you. The odds are worse than ever and the enticements to lose more money are aggressive. And if you win too much, they'll cut you off. We investigated the history of gambling dating back to America's earliest days, the birth of modern sports betting and a growing consumer demand for a better product.

I am waiting for the Republican Party to blame this on the immigrants

More Perfect Union’s mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means:

Sports betting is for rubes.

— @christopherhughes9787

We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective, and we attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions.

We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power, and we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.

I love that who made this video was not against gambling. This is the kind of journalism that I like: the one who shows that the world is not black and white

Gambling has permeated every aspect of life through “prediction markets” of course. But I think what’s just as crazy is how it’s been targeting children for years now with video game loot boxes, and even toys like Labubus and collectable cards. Kids and adults alike spend tons of money to buy a pack of cards with the hope that the pack includes a rare and valuable card that also has monetary value on the market. It’s conditioning kids from a young age to enjoy the thrill of that chase. We need regulation across all sectors because gambling is everywhere under the guise of “mystery”.

Americans are Americans, let's face it. And their country is going to rack and ruin in multifarious ways. They'll still smile, and say 'Have a nice day' , bless 'em.

@jamesupton4996

Yes in Australia we saw exactly the same trend take off number of years ago but this is when sporting operations we're looking for a new major sponsors after the removal of tobacco advertising. I mean these companies deeply entrenched themselves we even had a cricket game that was called The Benson and hedges World series cup. And now in Australia even the stadiums are sponsored by are named after online sports betting companies.
Now all good and well but the biggest problem is the entire industry has modelled it's entire funding around gambling revenues in every shape and form in the literal and the online sense so extracting this horribly cancerous and parasitic gambling industry will unfortunately cripple the sports industries.
As a result we are stuck with them and the consequences of entire generations knowing no difference but the close connection of Sport and gambling and God knows what social implications that will have. On top of the fact billions of revenue for sports agencies governments and these companies is generated and I think it's beyond speculation that this race for greed is found it's way under the pitch and into the decisions of referees and the performance of players. In other words sometimes we see decisions and outcomes of games that seemed incredibly irregular and it gets the mind thinking if the industry didn't have such a close affiliation to gambling billions that they would not be increased risk of game fixing.
Those thinking these gambling companies would act with higher integrity than those gambling on Wall Street and their track record of nefarious behaviour would be sadly mistaken.

@brendancarroll4624

Imagine how much worse things are going to get with the emergence of companies like Kalshi. Now people can not only bet on sports, but they can pretty much bet, or “trade”, on anything.

@b-rad-3849
@

On top of that, the sports leagues themselves are under no obligation to produce organic results, it's "entertainment" so when they influence the outcome of games, they can justify it, so it doesn't matter how smart you are about sports. maybe that's how the books make the money back when customers win too much. just fix the right game.

@muleasfy1862

The sharps will tell you, the biggest mistake people make is not withdrawing their money when they win. A majority of the money that's won on these sites is never withdrawn and instead is gambled right back again and lost.

did they not see what happened to Las Vegas? That city went from Sin City for the everyday man to playhouse for the rich. They got rid of $20 buffet for $50 burgers. And how'd that work for Vegas? MLB is betting on the spending habits of rich people staying the same while pricing out their base. Let's see how many years it takes for all this to crash. Ima put it at 1 more generation. Private Equity, unrestricted NIL, Gambling & absurd youth sports models will end all of this in 1 generation.

@rtdasilva3

I'll sum up your video in four points:

1) gambling is addictive;
2) you will lose everything;
3) the house never loses;
4) orange man bad.

Done.

@harryd9782

People are illogical. They bet on emotions. The mega lotteries do best when the jack pots become enormous. They increased the odds of winning to make it so hard to win that the rollover jacket pots grow to huge pay offs. This works because a lot of people don't play if the jack pot is "only" 100 million. But once it reaches a half of billion, everyone is buying multiple tickets. People can no longer get excited about winning $100 million. Why, because that wouldn't be enough to change you and your families life? Crazy. This proves how illogical most people are.

I can't even stand watching sports on TV anymore, its just a nonstop parade of ads for gambling companies. The 2026 Super Bowl was especially bad

@InfectiousBlue
@

The longer you stayed in a casino the more likely you were to lose.
If you did win big, they comped a room just to hold you overnight and thus, increase their odds of getting it back.
If you continued to win, they told you to leave, and barred you.
Why should online gambling be any different?
They don't ever want you to win.
Shame on celebrities pushing this $hit!
Greed from endorsing gambling and encouraging the general public to mess up their lives by getting into these financial black holes.
They've just taken mob rules and applied them to legalized gambling thanks to the Federal and State de-restrictions....
Another suckers welcome business model!
Once again the rich don't get hurt, but desperate, poor people do, trying to dig their way out of poverty.
If it wasn't profitable, there wouldn't be constant commercials on every platform.
Once again politicians being bought and sold.
They don't care about problem gamblers any more than Budweiser cares about alcoholics!
