Skinny Is Back Like NEVER Before…
Video Overview & Insights
In this video, we’re uncovering how the pressure to be skinny never actually disappeared, it just got quieter. Old school diet culture and toxic weight loss ads may be today’s “wellness,” “mindful eating,” and subtle body trends, and we’re diving into how extreme thinness quietly found its way back into Hollywood, social media, and everyday life. We’ll also discuss the damage of this new era of, why people feel so unsettled by it, and how a body standard no longer has to be verbally promoted to influence millions of people online.
hope you guys enjoy this extra layer added onto this trending topic, I love being able to let us all expand our brains a bit and pick apart a topic that has so many layers!! as always please be kind to yourself and others, this was a heavy video so thank you for sticking around, and have a GREAT saturday!

Nicole's response was incredible, "i wouldn't call myself 'thick', i'm just standing next to Paris, who is the skinniest person on the planet"

As a mom of daughters who's been down this road (yay early 2000's), I'm so nervous for my girls 🫤

A picture's worth a thousand words 🤷♀️
@ccarlton4511Not to be that guy, but I’m sure the correlation between extreme celebrity thinness, market flooding of weight loss drugs and historically high food prices are all coincidence.
@moongod5013This is so refreshing to hear, I feel like I’m loosing my mind because I’m just disturbed by these images and hearing from my much younger sister that her friends don’t eat lunch because they want to ‘look pretty like Ariana’ she’s 12 they’re 12. I’m so sick of this. I fight to feel happy in my own skin because I’ve always been fat and always felt this pressure, I’m your age, it was rife. I thought we were healing, but no. I don’t want that for my little sister. It’s so frustrating.
@Human_on_youtube59Can't stand how every time I see people, usually boys, online try and talk about it they muddy the waters of the conversation by brining up how healthy at any size was worse for people, as if ads were out there telling young people to get obese to be attractive.
@leeksleek512I’m a nurse in emergency. I’ve had elderly patients brought in after they fell and couldn’t get up for 5 days who have looked malnourished like these celebrities. I have patients who are in their 90’s and skin and bone, or patients who have end stage cancer, who look like this. They look malnourished and I think it’s disgusting to encourage and celebrate this unhealthy body obsession when there are people who actually are starving because of war, etc.
@zuthura001I am the same age like Kate Moss, it was not like this new skinny.
The look was slim plus a face of a heavy hangover and no sleep
Victorias secret and especially Victoria Beckham herself where the start of the anorexic skinny.
Glamorizing anorexia.
@leighlong5447This makes me think of the hunger games and how they starved peeta to torment katniss but still aired him on television to convince the capital and districts he was just fine
@adelinepresley5312The exercises made by a physical therapist to help disabled people regain movement is only for the super skinny now? What a wild timeline we live in
@alyshiajohnson5356I’m a trans woman… when I transitioned at 30, I told my grandmother. The first thing she said to me - “well, now you have to lose weight.” 💀 she accepted me as a woman which meant she immediately applied her own internalized misogyny to me 😢❤
@rinas6550Howard Stern needs to be cancelled already. I cannot believe people still go on his show. He’s horrendous.
@sharonsullivan8193Maybe they are eating arsenic wafers, using lead face powder and putting belladonna drops in their eyes.
@dianaglynn3841& im getting fat in the new era of skinny 💀 back when i was skinny everyone wanted a BBL
@eyesonnowwSkinny is no longer the word. It’s malnourished. There is actual muscle loss in these women’s bodies and they have turned the look into a trend.
@unacknowledged11I used to be a size 000 (size 0 now) but I am literally a 4'10 asian woman. I dont LOOK skinny the way the models do, but I am proportionally SMALL thats why my size is that number. If I were tall Id be a size 6 minimum... People should think about their biological structure (based on genetics and things like ethnicity) and idealize the healthy body through that. You cant force a chihuahua to look like a husky through exercise, neither can you force a pitbull to look like a dalmatian through diet. You love all equally and care about their health like helping an overweight chihuahua get exercise and have healthier eating habits instead of idfk expecting it to look like a fucking guinea pig with how ridiculously unrealistic all of these standards are nowadays 💀
@AyaBrea_thank god i'm not on tik tok at all and i'm not swathing this type of content on other socials either so I don't see it.. but a lot of these post look spot on like the old pro mia and ana forums of early 2000s.
and the girlies are not realizing cuz they just use different words and language? it's horrible.
its really concerning cuz I really thought we're done with that bs when it comes to promoting it publicly
You have the most beautiful speaking voice. Your voice sounds like music
@ellavateifyI just hate it when my stomach throws its hunger tantrums 👀
@N-C-HillI am honestly for talking about people’s bodies. Not everyone and obviously not in a demeaning manner but doctors and hopefully loving friends and family members should absolutely tell someone if they’ve gained a bit of weight and are getting bigger or if they’ve lost weight and are getting seriously small. Doctors obviously for health issues but I guess that would mean something like an annual check up so it can be tracked and reviewed in person. It could always be that someone started working out and building muscle so weight is not always the best indicator.
Loved ones see you regularly and a private chat about how things in life are going could go a long way. Weight fluctuations can be related to all sorts of things so a check in can help and support. Also it’s way easier to loose 10-20lbs than 50+lbs. Making small changes early like cooking together or going for a walk with a friend or partner is more sustainable in the long run than talking behind someone’s back or ignoring it and healthy choices never hurt anyone. ( and I mean healthy not almond mum obsession) 💜
21:03 As a man, I would take any girl in the "not this" section of the video TEN TIMES out of ten compared to the first part
@cornball624712:57 PLUS SIZE??
@GongagaaaI refuse to collude in lies by blanking certain adjectives from my speech. Fat is fat and skinny is skinny.
@chobij3921I like flat toned tummy and slim limbs which i used to have until the menopause hit me like an avalanche. I dont like bony thin and i dont like fat either.
@chobij3921Oh-oh-oh-ozempic 🎶🎵
@olvasasisnotdeadthis is the best skinny videos i've seen yet! you gave us so much informations instead of just shaming! thank you for your research
@jesuiseterneleThe hunger games were right. They have money to spend on food and they all decide not to eat, vomit it or just spend it on really bad nourishment decisions
@ingreed4154I just don’t understand how the people who report on this kind of thing are saying the celebrities look great and toned and all that when everyone I’ve seen says they look sick. Who is pushing this skeleton = toned agenda?
@TigerElily887I've dealt with body issues and stress eating my whole life. I'm still traumatized by low-rise of the 00s. I'm in my 40s now and dealing with perimenopausal body changes with a hard time with maintaining weight and my shape is changing in weird ways. Though, I'm still teaching myself to look at myself differently. It doesn't help that my doctor keeps tellming me I need to lose weight. I'm 5'8" and 174 lbs. I just read a "Chubby Romance" where the "ugly, gross fat girl" that everyone hated except her love interest, was.....drumroll... 5"9" and 180lbs. Like, WTF, that's not fat. My teenages toothpick athlete nieces where poking each other when I last saw them, calling each other "Fattie." WTF is this world, I hate it.
@heidibock1017I live in a trendy, high tourist city. I don’t see people who look like this. I did see one very thin person, but they still looked fit. I think this is mostly celebrities. When I start seeing this on non celebrities, I’ll start to worry.
@pandakeeperWhoa, not everyone is "dangerously different" on purpose. Some of us are battling health problems and EVERYONE judges you like you are disgusting. I cant tell y'all all the nasty things people have said to me for being underweight.
@loniloni756180's baby here... yeah.. I remember those commercials. Being skinny has always been a thing, but this time is just pushed to the limit.
@ElenaChristinneI want to talk about an issue: KPOP.
I am a huge Kpop fan. And their skinny culture is such an issue.
But I don’t think we should blame western skinniest on them. Because it’s 1) a different culture 2) associated with something that would actually make you lose weight. Something other than just looking skinny.
If girls looked at Rose or Twice, they learn their dance moves. They’re not known for JUST their skinniness. (Though it would be loads better if they had at least a few “plus sized” kpop idols.)
I’m not saying it’s toxic. I’m just saying it’s not the same issue. We know that beauty standards in Korea are crazy.
But here, it’s consumerism.
As a Pilates princess. Pilates girlies are not skinny! They are insanely strong and fit! We may not have bodybuilder shoulders, but no one is talking about being skinny at a Pilates class, that is not the point.
@Anetalp222623:54 ACTUALLY, actually, the dieticians of today know where it’s at. Because they see skinny, and they see muscle loss atrophy. And they see that these girls and boys are going to yo-yo once they eat one burger cuz their body is adjusting to the small amounts of food.
They see the writing on the wall for these people. There is too skinny
23:20 thank you for this! I do need to lose weight, just because I’m in an unhealthy zone for ME. So I do need more protein, I DO need to be aware of my calories.
But that’s not because of how I look, but because of my health. I also need doctor’s prescribed vitamin supplements.
13:32 Bro. Horrible
@rayeiswriting437212:56 what the heck?‽ PLUS SIZE?
@rayeiswriting4372Bone Dead Skinny is back because everyone is starving, and they’re getting us ready for world famine. The last time we had a Super El Niño, the climate killed 60 million people across the world because of extreme weather and failed crops
@kelvinwaves4:47 this cracks me up because it shows that society is not worried about health, but what men find attractive.
@rayeiswriting4372Personally i dont see why we care so much if people are deathly skinny. Like okay its not you are you planning to be skinny? No? Then why do you care.
Its giving straight ppl being personally offended by gay marriage like it had something to do with you. If they end up dying oh well they knew what they were doing why are you pittying a grown adult making grown ass decions.
And if youre triggered due to any trauma thats on you manage youre own triggers dont ask somone else to censor themselves for your comfort like are you a child who cant regulate their emotions or what?
Just say you're jealous and move on jts better than being a hater .
Im not saying id be happy if i saw ariana grande died tomarrow but i wouldnt really care cause idk her and yall shouldnt either srop centering the same people you put on a pedestal its sad.
I dont agree with body shaming, but if you are actually concerend for someone's health because of their weight, you should talk to them about it. It's quite scary to watch so many people going through body dismorphia and having all their fans blowing smoke up their asses telling them they are stunning when it's very obvious they need professional help.
@jennicookie1412Great video! I’m turning 50 this summer and have lived through most of these trends and the common thread is that advertising wants women to feel less than so their “product” is purchased. And they’re going after men now too
@JeepGirlforJesusGot an ad for weight loss medication right before the video 😐
@whiwelrodrigues9707It's called Anorexia or Bulimia...Not "skinny" it's awful... just as awful as the obesity epidemic... so many people don't realize just how sneaky all that xtra weight can be.... heartattacks a commin... Its time to find balance 💖 Be Well Friends 💖
@christinacarbonaro2358people usually go for "sometimes people are naturally skinny!!" when someone points out that a celebrity looks ill. sometimes it is also the celebrity's argument. it happened out of thin air! they take it as sort of a badge of honor, and a very insidious one, that becoming malnourished is just a part of life to them, and there's nothing to it
@pregnant6664this is a very good and thoughtful video. its very scary to see all this happen
@pregnant6664
