Selling Silver

Video Overview & Insights

Is it easier to liquidate from a pool, or buy selling physical silver? My experience.

I own a coin shop in Stockton, CA. Saying that the dealer is "charging $8/oz to buy your silver" is a misnomer. Instead, you should say that the dealer's buy price is "Spot minus $8". The seller wasn't charged anything. The seller was quoted a price that was eight bucks below the current Spot price. Because of the rapid price increase over the past few weeks, physical silver began to trade at a DISCOUNT to the Spot price due to the increasing risk of a market correction. On another day Silver might trade at a PREMIUM to the spot price. The premium or discount is a reflection of whether the brokers feel that the market is over-bought or over-sold. Brokers are engaging in RISK MANAGEMENT when they adjust their premiums or discounts to Spot.

Great timing Dick! Silver dropped over a quarter of its value yesterday. Happy for Mimi and you, Dick with that forsight to sell at the right time, you're probably a remote viewer :)
Joke aside, I do believe that any skill you develop in any domain bleeds into other aspects of your life.
Have a wonderful day and much love to you both!

I'll be holding until silver is tokenised. I do like the real stuff, I don't feel safe that even crypto backed by Silver will actually be there.

But in reality, we need cash, crypto and silver/gold to managed the next few years until the financial system turns right way up IMO.

They each fit into a different category - we need all three:
1. easiest to use but will devalue quickly (cash),
2. crypto to hold some value but also difficult to use - can be expensive to use,
3. and last Silver to hold value knowing it will take time to sell.

I've no issue with the packing up, couriering. I don't know why the USA charges such premiums, we get 2% off spot in Europe with decent bullions dealers.

I sold some of my silver to pay bills as I was behind due to hardships in Hawaii, and the rest of the money, I invested it into small crypto coins.

The 'allocated, secure pool' will work until it doesn't.

There are plenty bigger problems at the moment than just the 5-8% dealer commissions-- refiners are backed up 3-6 months, bullion dealers unable to hedge inventory, an increasing # are stopping their buying unless they're sure they can get it out the door within days.

The point of holding tangible, physical assets is to protect against the (not unlikely) turbulent times and paralysis of the virtual mechanisms. Paper promises for silver outnumber physical actual ounces by multiple 100x. Liquidity is good, but not without risk.

If you kept your stock in their VOLT, you would’ve paid for a storage fee. They don’t store stock for free?

If your silver was paper then you did the best thing. Nobody is going to be collecting off that soon. If it wasn’t then it’s your prerogative.

Dick is forward thinking, digital era is coming and he is looking to future gains in cryptos not a doomsday scenario involving silver and bartering. I gave up on silver long ago even though it is going to 600....or higher, crypto is my ship now. Yes it is a trap but we have no control over that. They also crashed silver once again 15 dollars.......still the old games. Yes they do the same with cryptos, once a criminal always a criminal. Never changes.

My LCS is not doing well they may close..went to sell a very small bit offered over 15 under spot! (for a few Philharmonics) Didn't sell, not a big deal but if I really needed to I'd have to do all that packing sending and still not get spot. Pool idea is good at least for a portion of your stack.

'Lucky' Mimi! 🤣 Dick I think when the dollar goes completely 'tits up' the banks will come up with an easy system to directly exchange physical metals for currency, same as they do now for foreign currencies

I've been bamboozled into holding physical silver 😢. Yes, the majority of my holdings should have been in a pooled account like yours.

@renegado100

A more balanced comment on silver, and you've shown how easy it is to sell without a wheelbarrow! Regarding the premium on the sell price, even stocks have a buy/sell price, but with precious metals that spread keeps the dealer/refiner in business, but if/when silver is say US$500 an ounce that small premium of 2-3% is insignificant with regards to the gain. Still slight sarcasm on silver stackers though which I'm surprised at, as the same mindset is likely a prepper which at the moment isn't a bad thing to be. Bartering, even with whiskey/food/tools/assistance has been the mainstay of civilisation for centuries - if the financial system goes down even just for a few weeks having items to barter would keep u alive and well.

They'll charge a buyers fee until they can't. The time will come when they are paying sellers a premium because their business is all about selling. buying not so much, and without physical to sell their business is defunct.
BTW. Uranus in Gemini is The US Lynch pin to war. Three occasions open Uranus ingressed into Gemini, The Revolutionary War, The American Civil War, WWII, and Uranus ingressed into Gemini in July before egressing briefly and is about to ingress into Gemini again in April and stay until 2034.
Uranus is the US' most influential planet having been prominent during the signing of there The Declaration of Independence and it has an 84 year cycle. Also, Mars the planet of war figures very prominently in the US astrological chart in April.
