Russian stock market PLUMMETS: is Putin running out of options in Ukraine?
Video Overview & Insights
Russia’s stock market has plummeted in recent days, hitting a three year low, mounting pressure on Vladimir Putin while Ukraine ramps up its long range drone attacks on critical infrastructure, including oil facilities around Moscow.
I didn't like Matt Frei interrupting Mark Urban again and again and could have done without some of his word salads. Other than that, it was an interesting discussion. I've enjoyed reading Urban's book Task Force Black so I think he's well worth listening to anyway.

Are the costs of the war becoming unbearable for Russia? Is Ukraine finding new ways to fight back? And if Putin believes time is no longer on his side, will he escalate?
Putin is winning. The war will be over soon and eastern Russia will be free. US market is crashing and Iran now owns the Petrodollar base.. Hormuz. Bye bye war.
On this episode of The Fourcast Indicators, Matt Frei and Mark Urban are joined by Nina Khruscheva, professor of international affairs at The New School in New York.

Anyone else feel like this is Nazi Germany again? Obsession with manifest destiny, victory or death (Hitler), inferiority of those you are invading/killing, etc?

This escalation of the war could trigger a far greater war.
It is obvious that Ukraine can now target main infrastructures in Russia and I guess this is probably because of American technology especially Planet Labs which provides live dynamic high resolution monitoring of Earth from space.
Putin has basically two options…..Peace or War.
Peace means retreat from Ukraine.
War means escalation by using Nuclear weapons.
There is no other choice.
Putin is cornered and is being defeated by American and European Technology, along with economic warfare.
There is only the two outcomes….
If Putin is sane, he will negotiate with Zelensky.
Meanwhile in the background the West is effectively pounding Russia with bombs.
I fear we are nearer to WW3 than ever before.
If Russia calls for a general or total mobilisation of the people....then it is WW3.

Europe will be drawn in and Russia will be destroyed
@nyttag7830Excellent analysis. Always get good insights from Nina, fun fact she is indeed former Soviet leader Nikita K’s great granddaughter.
@jameswyre6480where my firestick ?
@margaretwarner8118I've been predicting a September collapse in Russia since their communication fiasco began and nothing we've seen in the last four months has gotten me to think otherwise. It looks like Putin has created a perfect storm of blowback in business leadership, in the markets, in soldiers, and on the battlefield. They might all come to a crisis point at the same time. The world needs to start preparing for the aftermath as it is likely to be very chaotic.
@njebeithe only people who cant risk peace are putin and his cronies.
@robertschriek1353Matt fry is hysterical. In love with his own voice and blind to anything other than his own thoughts.
@smartricky6153Matt should let Mark Talk. Matt is irritating as he interrupts inappropriately.
@dja36523What do the Russian population believe Putin is even fighting the war for now? Genocide, nazis, Ukrainian nuclear weapons development? Please... There are four years of global media coverage, a large amount of it being broadcast by countries that are completely independent of the Russia/Ukraine/NATO sphere of influence - impartial and hard to ignore. Russians have access to the internet, surely they are now questioning four years of global media coverage showing Putin bombing residential areas and zero evidence of Ukraine ever having committed genocide, zero neo-nazi movements, and zero nuclear weapons development?
@chrisfanning5842russia cannot win, and never could. They cannot stop the defence production from Ukraine's allies without triggering NATO article 5. Meanwhile all of russias military and economical production is available for kinetic sanctions. If russia wants to stop losing EVERYTHING... they need to retreat and stop their failed invasion...
@themeek9072Putin is not a president, he is not an autocrat, he is a common criminal and he will react and act as common criminal. That is his essence and way of thinking.
@anonymousonlineuser6543The assumption is that the russian state pays the families.
@robertelliott-q2kThis is how lemmings are led to their deaths, pathetic
@center__massThey really ought to get themselves a new crystal ball.
@independentview2026Interesting guest! Somewone who understands (it seems) the Russian perspective.
@charlesfreeman-core3525When you are a person like putin how has killed hundreds of thousands of hes young men for wat ..at the end of this putin will end up being over throne by the people of Russia...
@irish1111100Putin has gold. He has plenty of options
@Chio-b4b... or you just print a stack of cash for each dead soldier, and hand it to the bereaved in a gym bag.
@labbertubesIt was not just that they asked Musk. The IPO would have revealed all that money from Starlink going to spooky Russian actors which would have possibly hurt his big trillion dollar scam payday.
@RollinLeonardSlava Ukraine from Hungary.
Glory to the heroes of Ukraine.

Uhm......no, Russia has never ran out of options, and there is no "options ". There's an objective and it will be accomplished, like it always is
@dkrawk8309The Brits forced a defeat on Germany in 1918 and look how that turned out; War 2 decades later. Now they are want to force a defeat on a Russia with thousands of nukes; what is the end game of that?? How is it going to turn out?
@jackbailey7037She is 100% right. And we in the west must wake up.
@ulf5738Russian patriotic mysticism has never been enough to stop an inevitable collapse of the system. The Soviet Union projected a perception of invicibility right up until it's collapse and that was in an age where the modern internet didn't exist, younger Russians in particular have been exposed to life outside the bubble created by Putin and although they obviously fear the regime I believe they understand the precarious position the country is in.
How that plays out is anyone's guess but Putin is clinging on to a world that only exists inside his head and general mobilisation along with the increasing affects of Ukraines deep strikes could be a tipping point.
Slava Ukraini!!!

@Hymn-For-The-DudesWho is complacent? Look at the military spending of the EU nations since Feb 2022. Please stop referencing the West, Trump has shown the world the USA only has one ally, Israel.
@rosscooper7778These guys are not experts. No idea
@summers5903Two points for Channel 4:
1. The billions of roubles paid to the families of dead Russian soldiers are not a direct problem for the economy. Given that ordinary Russians cannot buy imported goods, they will either spend this money on domestic goods or save it. It circulates in the economy and can, in fact, be a booster. Elvira Nabulina, head of the Central Bank, understands this. 99% of Western commentators and journalists do not.
2. Under international law Hezbollah is defending Lebanon against an invading force, in the EXACT same way that the Ukraine is defending itself against Russia. It is not committing war crimes, unlike the invading Israelis. How quickly the British forget that they called Mandela, Kenyatta, Collins terrorists, when in fact they were, like Hezbollah, legally recognisable freedom fighters.
That lady must watch a lot of YouTubes😂
@richardhowell7040The Russian economy is a wartime economy, take away government spending on military and the economy crumbles. Russia has already sold off over 4 billion in Gold and since Dec 2025 it has failed to replace casualties rates in the army. Russia is losing and its people will rise up if Putin tries to increases conscriptions in Moscow or St Petersburg. Slava Ukraine
@rosscooper7778No families ever get that money. They don’t even bother to feed the ones being sent to their death so there’s no way they are going to pay large amounts of money to families
@rob-fb5xsPutin needs an off-ramp. A way to de-escalate while saving face. Very hard to see what options Ukraine have to offer this if they want total victory. The rat is cornered, but the rat has nukes.
@julmaassTrump should tell Putin the truth and deliver a wooden coffin!
@chrismitchell4622There are other things brewing in Russia. The Chechnian leader might die and the anti-Putin Chechnians could rebel. And other regions could do the same.
@jasper777777Tsaritsyn Weapons Factory cough, cough
@thefollandgnatThere is no way for Russia to keep Crimea therefore also no future for Putin. Another solution is just not possible.
@georgthaa2887I’m with the Russian lady on calling it a necessary escalation by Vladimir Putin to go ahead and announce the special military operation to be a full-fledged war on Ukraine fairly soon before the Kremlin gets embarrassed even more by heavy drone attacks on the oil refinery
@AntalDarin-ly6osGood…. May Mother Russia starve
@sterlingdafydd5834Russia is the embodiment of a nation of hard headedness, stupidity and a nation that ALWAYS learns the HARD WAY
@CudaVonChev-k2vWhat Russia is and what we understand Russia to be are totally unrelated. Russia's deception is its security cloak.
@WonderMagicianPutin won’t blink till he sleeps forever.
Slava Ukraine 🏴👍🫶🇺🇦
AZ here, thank you Gentlemen for your input and perspectives. 😊❤
@lindabb621Just amazing that C4 reporters need to have it so clearly explained to them that Vladimir Putin doesn't see the world the same way they do
@alexswanson7127I mean, the filter?
