I’m still listening to this in 2026, and I am more convinced than ever—despite my main musical tastes leaning toward Djent and Post-hardcore—that this is one of the most beautiful songs ever created.

I was just somewhere recently waiting in line (of course I can’t remember where 🤦🏽‍♀️) and this came on and I just started singing out loud. I could not help it. My favorite song of theirs. ❤

The music they make will stay with me forever. Not because its a cliche thing to say, but because their songs survived two atrociously bad breakups all in the course of less than a year. As a matter of fact, my ex that ended up cheating on me after causing so much damage was the one that introduced me to rufus du sol. I wont forget the day when I went to pick her up to make her feel better (not knowing she was feeling bad because she was cheating) and said she'd play innerbloom to feel better. It was a really messy breakup, it messed me up mentally

Then came another girl just 4 months after the first ex. Every mistake in my ex was fixed in her. She was perfect, or so it seemed. We both shared an immaculate love for the songs rufus du sol make. I sometimes remember how she used to wrap her hands around me when I made us food. It was around this time when I discovered this song. Yet when things got serious, and effort was needed to be put in, she started limiting her interaction with me. We went from making love to suddenly being called a "friend". At least I played my cards correct with this one after learning the hard lesson from my past ex. Im glad I put her in her place before she could do any damage.

Yet the only thing that stayed with me, through both these vile women, were these songs. They carry pain, yet redemption. I feel happy when listening to them, yet the pain in my chest persists. Its ironic how such a song would inflict a damp, broad pain. I have 5:46 tattooed above my left elbow, not because its mainstream, but because its a mark of healing. I made it through, and it made it with me. I cannot indentify not explain it, yet that mark felt like "realization". I had finally openned my eyes.
