Also a small(ish) review on Best Friend:
- the intro is so simplistic yet so beautiful! his voice is just wonderful throughout this whole song, you can tell that he's holding back in the intro! the subtle changes in his tone make his vocals just pop so much! the rex orange county speciality!
- the guitar oh this song is mixed great! i love its use in the chorus especially!
- the 1st chorus is just SOO GOOD!!! his voice is just so nice to listen to! hes not really trying to put 100% into it and casually singing in his house, plus the solo guitar, makes it sound like it was produced in a bedroom instead of studio! this is the basis for his main genre of 'bedroom pop'!
- the guitar after the chorus (0:58) if sped up, makes the song feel bouncy, which is similar to his last song 'Uno' (might be abit of a stretch) - its still super nice here! its also gives the song here a much more calm and 'vibey' sort of feel.
- i like how the drums + guitar gets slightly faster at 1:24! it stops the song from feeling too boring since that tempo was kinda slow.
- at 1:38 - 1:46, he has since changed the lyrics to this part in future concerts to "you're not(changed) my favorite girl. you better trust me when i tell you there is someone(changed) else more beautiful in this damn world" - this part also changes to add claps + more speed to increase the energy of the song to lead into the kinda false climax.
- the shakers + cords + claps he uses makes first the best friend lyric sound kinda tropical?
- the 4x best friend part of this song is pretty nice, especially the last one, and reinforces how he feels like his relationship with a person he likes is gong, but it does feel abit repetitive and breaks the flow of the song abit. maybe making it go only 3x would have been better?
- THE DROP IS JUST TOOO GOOD!!! ITS INSANE HOW HYPE AND FUN THIS 2ND CHORUS IS!!1!
- the intro of horns into this last chorus also increases the energy of it!
- THE TRUMPET SOLO + REX/ALEX'S VOICE IS SOOOO GOOD? LIKE WHAT?
- the de-escalation of the instrumentals, then the angelic outro is just too good!
- this song is about rex/alex's relationship with a person he likes. their relationship currently is one of best friends or just friends, but he wants to make them his gf so he competes with the other guys in her life to become her 'favorite boy'.
- he may have already confressed to her but got rejected, so hes trying to still win her back. (i'm not great at analysis, sorry)

OVERALL: i love this song, you love this song. it is the song i've listened to the most on spotify EVER, it is my favorite song BY FAR! it is just too good, and it deserves to be his no. 1 song. get this to 1 billion streams!
