Rescue 50 *Ride Along* Back to Back Working Building Fires

Video Overview & Insights

Rescue 50 was dispatched to assist Station 59 (Refton) with a dwelling. Units arrived finding smoke showing from all sides. Rescue 50 assisted with stretching a second line off of Engine 59-1, and checking for extension on the second floor. Crews from 50 and 57 removed two pets from the house, who unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. While units were working on ventilation and overhaul, the prealert sounded for an outbuilding in West Lampeter Twp. Units began freeing up from the house fire and responded directly to the second incident. Multiple calls were received reporting a large chicken house on fire prompting the incident to be upgraded to a barn. Units arrived finding a nearly 500' long chicken house that was approximately 50% involved. Crews stretched lines and utilized towers to try and limit the fire spread. There is not much footage from the second fire, as my cameras were already low on battery from the first fire, so some pictures are included at the end. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 6/17/26

I love watching your videos! The beautiful scenery , the amazing driving skills. All the while knowing that you’re going to deal with someone’s tragedy. That rooftop camera is great!

FAQs-

Whete I live in fla we would have passed 4 fire station s already

— @Bobby-y9n1z

Q: "Where is this?"

A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Hope this isn't 100 miles away

— @Bobby-y9n1z

Q: "What is the spinning thing?"

A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.

Two great videos, love your countryside, stay safe. From Lancaster, California.

— @michaels908

Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"

A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.

Great run 50, I'm glad to see you back! Stay safe out there and good luck!

— @frank1rooster

Q: "What camera are you using?"

A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 12 Black, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

Now, that's a big barn fire. I've responded to a few, but this one takes the taco.

omw I used to professionally mow around a chicken house, it has the worst smell I've ever experienced, I can't imagine what one on fire smells like.
