Its so funny! Ray's very first piano book was absolutely glued into his mind! My first book was purple and, like Ray, I STILL remember parts of it! J.S. Bach's influence is really there when you listen to Ray's technique. I remember being SO fascinated to with Scott Joplin's rags, and the Maple Leaf. I know that Ray would have agreed (rest in peace, you are missed Ray) Rag time, stride piano also requires a disconnected left and right. I don't know if you guys are aware, but Ray plays on Weird Al Yankovic's spot on Doors-Morrison song, "Craigs List" Be sure and listen to it. Ray was right in the Doors groove.

Huh? The original descending RIDERS ON THE STORM seems to be on a Rhodes not an organ.

I have spent an incredible amount of time learning to play the piano bass with a g101 and a Rhodes...I only wanted to play piano after listening to Ray. First song I learned from Ray, love me two times that haunted me for so long, then riders, then when the musics over, 20th century fox, touch me, then a very humbling light my fire wbich I still work on as it is a bear of a song. I only realized what a freaking genius he was after I dove in with a guitar background Ray was a perfect match for Jim, Bobby, and John..no one plays songs like the doors....Ray was and is still my catalyst...

I played bass in a band in 1969. This was one of our top songs. The bass part isn’t hard, but you have to be in the pocket. The lead singer was crazy just like Jim, but everything worked perfectly.

Ray Manzarek, Mike Ratlege, Richard Wright, Joe Zawinul, all such greats musicians/composers in the same period !!!

Riders on the storm if you listen carefully there is a whisper track with heavy effects singin in unison with the lead vocal but mixed so low that it is almost subliminal...a chilling effect!

The summer of 1967 I first heard the Doors and that was it!! Mom would not let me play that album when dad and her were home but my brother and I would play it every night till they came home then stash the album in our shared closet boy what a memory that never will end😘✌️

I know Morrison and Manzarek are dead now but if I have the chance in the afterlife, I want to met them all by the time I go to the afterlife 25 years from now because the last 2 alive members will probably be dead in the next 2 to 6 years from now given their in their 80's. And I will thank them for their contribution to generational awareness of great mysterious music.

Ray, Robbie, and John. What an amazing band. Jim Morrison was lucky in many ways to find his vibe with this special combination of fine players. His voice and words were unique and foreword. The Doors came together and created a soundscape. We are the listeners.

The Doors were a terrible band, in my opinion. Their music added nothing positive to the sub-culture of the time or the history of the development of 20th century music. White American rich kids from military families who did not play on their own records (Wrecking Crew) and handled fame very badly. Fat and bloated - Morrison (predictably) died of a coke overdose - the epitome of self-indulgence.

Whoever did the editing on this is INCREDIBLE. Hearing the actual song echoing in the background?! Mwah! Chef's Kiss!

One of the first downloads I bought from iTunes was the single-edit of LMF. It withstands more frequent play, while I save the full album LMF for more special occasions.

Incredible. The doors affected me in a really strong way, strange way .. It was the right time in my life when I
found them. Such their own sound . Invokes really strong emotions ! Great at a keg party or drinking alone
with headphones on. It transports you , You can trip on doors music , with just drinks n good headphones , That
is powerful music.

What a fantastic piece of work this is. The influence of American jazz, soulful blues, and those beautiful Latin tones made a wonderful combination together. So funny how musical geniuses like Ray are so humble and thankful of their influences which are actually predated by anything they could ever imagine. Nothing in music is new, it's only an expansion and a collaboration with the past. Love the Sinatra tie in at the end.
