I really dont think there's a value in talking about what Boston did - stab the heart of the franchise in the back - without contextualizing it with the Celtics, the Boston Celtics, being under the luxury tax for a second year in a row, bc they got bought by private equity. It's insane to treat with it on basketball terms, and the only reason, I believe, people outside of Boston are hemming and hawing about it is bc there's a certain amount of inertial trust in Brad Stevens' decision making.

Which is why him not actually making the overarching decisions, which he had a serious hand in in the previous ownership group, is a really big deal. Like, forget trading Brown, for a moment: who thinks Brad Stevens, left to his own devices, making basketball decisions, ships Jrue Holiday, a year removed from a ring, for Simons' expiring contract...and then jettisons Simons at the deadline to get under the luxury tax? It just wouldnt happen - he was widely regarded as one of the two cagiest, out in front GMs in the sport for years...then they got bought, and he has made terrible trade after terrible trade since.

Hilariously, Simons is also now with the Sixers.

Boston's off-season was catastrophic, and for a lot of reasons, very little to do with basketball, folks just cannot bring themselves to admit it. They will win a bunch of games -Tatum plus infinity 3's will win games. It's just been proven, as a style, to be all but useless when the games count. And they traded the only dude who wanted to play any other way.

Spurs definitely got better if you factor in internal development. Four of the ten players in the rotation were 22-or-younger last year.

I did not know that Nikola Vucevic returned to Orlando. Jaylen Brown is going to be turned into a role player in Philadelphia. Who is going to dive for loose balls? You don't get an automatic championship just because you have popular names. They will crash and burn like the Nets did. Giannis is going to make LeBron cry.

I don't think we should view home runs as "adding a superstar only". Some teams can't or maybe shouldn't add a superstar. Feel like Hawks were a home run; they got better while getting under the apron. That sounds pretty amazing

Lebron James is all name at this point, having had to suffer watching him on the Lakers the last few years his age really shows and he's almost entirely empty stats. He is also one the worst and laziest defenders in the entire NBA at this point, that Philly lineup is going to be one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA just like the Lakers lineups that feature Lebron was. Better hope Embiid plays more than 20 games.

Trading Ryan Nembhard imo is not really smart, i don't think his ceiling is as a backup PG at all, i think if he gets playtime he'll turn out to be one of the better PGs in the league when it's all said and done
