Chickens lay massive eggs when they get protein from bugs but ive found to get night crawlers and feed them and boy youll get monster eggs! They also like to eat of my salmon & steelhead carcasses the yolk is bright orange

I worked at TSC in the early 90's in Lebanon, TN and remember springtime and chick setup. The Little Giant mention brought many memories back as TSC had many products. I'm almost 60 now and remember those days at TSC. I miss it.
Also, guineas are loud but they also keep pests ie fleas, ticks down. Peacocks are also a loud 'alarm' system but beware the kicks. Ask me how I know.

@OrganicDuckFarmingThank you for this. I've just moved from the States to West Africa and I'm going to help a friend who already is raising chickens. He also has a few duck and surprisingly some turkeys (which are NOT common here at all (no Thanksgiving, as we're accustomed to, in these parts). What I've noticed here when I buy a live chicken, kill and pluck it (dress it as it's called, here), the meat is very tough and the birds are ALL feathers. The meat is lean and flavorful but mighty tough. My question is, what type of birds OR what to do to/for the birds to get tender juicy chickens that I can fry for a regular 2-piece, bake in the oven with some stuffing, fricassee (sp), stew up with some veggies (Caribbean style) you know cook right away? Please impart your wisdom. Thanks, in advance.

@NealFarms-KY3 years ago we lost the home we were remolding on our homestead we had 100,000 into it! All because we got a cold snap and I had to bring the chicks inside. We decided to use one of our horse water troughs (plastic) rather than buying a metal tub. DO NOT PUT A PLASTIC TUB IN YOUR HOUSE IF YOUR USING A HEAT LAMP!

@Alvaro_ContrerasI think some of these are a stretch. The bedding isn’t accurate. I use 4 bags a year as I use deep method. My chickens don’t eat as much as you say and they free feed. Cut that down and yes everything is bigger with chicken but I’m still considering getting quail too for variety. But I’m not giving up my baby girls 🐔 🐓 . My girls lay 250-320 yearly.
