Video Overview & Insights

What were Neanderthal tools really like? In this video, I take replicas of real Mousterian stone toolsโ€”crafted using the same techniques Neanderthals used over 50,000 years agoโ€”and put them through a series of hands-on experiments. From cutting wood to scraping hides, I test just how effective these ancient tools really were.

9:15 I'm sorry, THAT is COMPLETELY impossible... the liberals and other communists told me that violence wasn't invented until AFTER the gun was invented.... there's NO WAY humans could have been killing each other for hundreds of thousands of years with rocks and sticks.. ๐Ÿ˜‹

โ€” @joearledge1

These werenโ€™t just primitive rocks. They were the product of skill, intelligence, and generations of knowledge. Join me as I explore the craftsmanship behind themโ€”and discover how these tools shaped the survival of one of our closest human relatives.

๐Ÿ”จ Featuring: Hand axes, scrapers, and flake tools

Neanderthals were close contact hunters, bulky, they didn't use the bow and arrow.

Those spears arenโ€™t well made at all. A 10 year old could do a better job. Iโ€™m surprised theyโ€™re so crooked and crude.

Hey, I only came here to tell you. The Shรถningen spears and the Clacton spear.. they are bows.

Without a doubt. I could prove it to you and teach you to build and use them.

They are not compressed from sediment. No other fossils or atlatl darts or other auch artifacta do that. 100% they are bows.

You need to teach people this. It is important.

There's been such a concerted effort for a little while now to rehabilitate the reputation of Neanderthals as smarter or superior, and yet here we are, and there they are as fossils. Nature doesn't lie, they weren't fitter.

Neandertall?

@CxvheXD
@

Why are we acting like we aren't still around. Western Europens are a little bit Neanderthal. We should just embrace are our fellow Homo ancestors.

@TheHortoncrow
@

This video is bullshit. Nobody evolved from anything. Humans were always human. The people now called "Neanderthals" were just like us. We have people of different skin color, different hair color, and other features, but they are all human, and they can intermarry and have offspring. And this is the same for the so-called "Neanderthals". They have been absorbed into the rest of the human race. Some subgroups of humans have more of the features identified with the "Neanderthals".

The "Lavawa" technique shown in this video is spelled 'Levallois' If anyone is interested in looking it up, The spelling is so different from the pronunciation It's almost impossible to guess because it's French.

Weird idea, Did denisovans have similar technology to Neanderthals because of more recent common ancestry, or more recent cultural exchange, and then do aboriginals have neanderthal like technologies because they had a cultural exchange or partial blending with denisovans, as evidenced by their high denisovan ancestry.

It's perfectly obvious that leaf-shaped blades are ideally suited for effortlessly cutting through bones. Any knife with a serrated edge can be thrown away; they'll get stuck in the bone.
