@FoodNerdsHow do Grace and Rocky communicate? They forgot to mention that Rocky learns to understand English and Grace learns to understand the Eridian language (in the novel). They can both hear, so they begin to understand the meaning of each other's sounds.
@patcostonI don't think the food system would totally collapse. They can always move crops indoors to maintain the right temperature, light, water, etc.
