Video Overview & Insights
Denon AVR-X1800H
I'd pick 5.1 over soundbar any day of the week.

Polk Monitor Xt30 Centre Speaker
How can I decide which one to buy when you give no price

Polk Monitor XT15 Compact Bookshelf Speakers
Soyndbars used to be space saving soundbars! Now we have detachable speakers and subs and multiple other options. Might as well just have a receiver and a full system. That is if the budget allows. Love your video thankyou.

Polk Monitor XT12 Subwoofer
I choose a soundbar because I am afraid my children damage a bigger setup which is standing around. Choose the newest Samsung 995.
Would love to have a better setup but I would get so angry if they damage high end boxes π

Polk XT Speakers & Bundle Deals
I paid roughly 500 Euros for my Yamaha 5.1 Receiver, two (Heco Victa) 701, two 301 and a 101 and a Mivoc Hype G2 Sub.
There is no single Soundbar for 500 Euros on this earth that can match this setup for Stereo Music and 5.1 sound for movies.

Denon & Polk Bundles
I have a Roku Streambar Pro with the wireless bass pro (10-inch) and 2 wireless speakers for my den. I think it sounds incredibly good with some of the 4K UHD movies I have on Vudu and Apple.

SONOS Beam Gen2
I have been using kef r3meta plus atoll in200se with integrated dac and wiim pro for everything from music to movies and shows. Recently I wanted to dive deeper and see what else I could improve for tv shows and movies. I bought the arc ultra and in summary the sound quality impressed me (in perspective to the 3;4 times more expensive system i have). Of course it is not as high end but the package will be good enough for most people. I ended returning it because in the end it just do very little more in terms of immersion effects unless you go and buy the era 300 as well which at this point i waa not sure if i want to do. I am still wondering if adding just 2 more kef q series speakers at rhe back and an av receiver would bring better value as i already have the r3 meta that if i go with sonos will result in using them only for music.....any thoughs... I wont add the Atmos enabled speakers as i just don't want to put anything in my ceiling or on top of me current speakers as this will drive the cost too high. So it is soundbar system with bar surrounds and bass or kef 4.1 system....heeeelp

SONOS Era 100
Which one would you recommend Denon AVR-X1800H AV
Receiver with Polk Signature Elite 5.1 AV
Pack or Denon AVR-X1800H AV
:
Receiver with Polk Monitor XT70AV 5.1 Cinema
Pack
I really need help to decide, I've seen reviewers saying the XT produce more bass than the signature elite

SONOS Sub Mini
Great video as always John. I do think there's a third option to a soundbar or full surround set-up for your AV needs: and that's a 2.0 or 2.1 stereo system with an integrated amplifier with HDMI eARC. Something like an Audiolab 7000a or Leak Stereo 230 plus an appropriate set of speakers and possibly a subwoofer. I think crucially it gives the scale and width lacking in a soundbar, AND if you happen to use your system for music duties too, it's probably going to be even better than a soundbar or full surround system at the same price. Instead of having to split your budget between an AV Receiver, 5 speakers and a subwoofer, you just have 2 speakers and an amp. So the likelihood is, the quality per pound will be appreciably higher. It could make for an interesting comparison video to compare a stereo + integrated vs a soundbar or full 5.1 system for a given similar budget. Imagine a Leak Stereo 230 and some Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G's and you'd get some awesome sound, for movies and music too.

I have had a Pioneer AV amp running Mission speakers for years now. In my opinion these sound better than any sound bars I have heard. Thats my opinion. Good informative video John

Love Sennheiser but still strange they have no surrounds after years

Very informative John. My personal choice would be a 5 speaker setup over a sound bar. But thats my choice. Even paying pots of money for say the Bang and Olufsen Theatre Im sure there are separate sytems out there, that pound for pound sound lots better.
