@CrazyFirePieLooking down and looking away consistently can be taken as a sign of disrespect or an untrue statement or looking at all of them as if you’re giving a motivational speech. Look at the person asking the question and give the answer to said person. Don’t break eye contact even if you stumble or mess up when speaking.

@rogerEheadbyrne4790A diversity question is incredibly loaded. It shouldn't matter what race or gender an officer is, as long as they can conduct their duties with respect and integrity that should be all that matters.

@hersonpinto345"Why is it important to promote diversity within the police force?"
My answer to this question would use a quote by Sir Robert Peel, who founded the Metropolitan Police Service. He said "The police are the public and the public are the police".
I would explain that the United Kingdom has a very diverse society, with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and that this should be reflected in the composition of the police. When Sir Robert Peel said what I have quoted him saying above, he was referring to it not being a case of "us vs them" in relation to the police and the public.
I think this is a good quote to use, because it demonstrates to the interview panel that you've done your research.
Points to remember:
- Police officers are expected to do shift work – it is not a 9 to 5 job. Make sure you mention any relevant experience.
- There is a risk that you will be assaulted. Police officers have the same right not to be assaulted when they go to work as everyone else (and courts also take a dim view of those who assault police officers), but it is a possibility that you must be prepared for.
- It is not a police officer's job to beat anyone up – in fact, a good day for a police officer is when they don't have to use force!
- The terms "policeman" and "policewoman" have fallen out of favour, in favour of the gender-neutral term "police officer". The term "police service" is also considered preferable to "police force".
As with all jobs, you will need to be able to demonstrate to the interviewer that you have done your research beforehand. Many police officers here in Britain resign from the service shortly after joining due to not knowing what to expect.
I passed the interview! Thank you so much!
