@TammyJ7628What is the difference between Phonics, phonemic awareness, and Phonological awareness?
✅Phonemic awareness
First, we need to understand what a phoneme is. A phoneme is one single sound it can be M, S, or SH . it takes the smallest sound in English.
So, Phonemic awareness it is just being aware of the different sounds in a word like identifying the first sound in a word son is “s” or hearing the last sound like in the word brush is “sh”
As we progress, we will be able to manipulate phonemes for example, take the word cat the first phoneme can be switched to M making a new word Mat.
Cat = Mat , Pat = Bat , dog = dig, trash = crash.
Now that we understand what phonemic awareness is. This is one sub-skill that falls into the category of Phonological awareness.
✅Phonological awareness
This category includes phonemic awareness, rhyming, identify individual words in sentences, syllable blending or segmenting and many other skills.
✅Phonics
It is a little different, it is the study of how letters are connects to sounds for example the letter M represents the sound /m/ or the letter s represents the sound /s/ or /z/. Also knowing that the ai can represent the sound /eɪ/ as in rain.

@carleneburton6752Your "eyes closed" comment did it for me! Phonics requires us to have our eyes OPEN so we can see the letters associated with sounds; whereas Phonemic awareness & phonological awareness do NOT require us to have our eyes open. We can keep them closed and analyze sounds without the use of letters. Thank you!

I’m just gonna call it the “phonic thing in 3 categories: letters, words and syllables”. I don’t care if it isn’t strictly what a syllable is ok, I can explain what I mean. Next 😂 😂 😂

@jivashareddy1011Can you please tell me that "t" is a grapheme (written form or phoneme) Or lower case letter? Because in our demos we says that its lower case letter "teee" and its sound is "t". and i m confused that is it letter or a sound?
